I’m searching for some reasonably detailled and accurate online infos about the political events in Iran at the beginning of the XXth century. More precisely the institution of a constitutional parliamentary system, the attempt to overthrow it, the liberal revolution, the involvment of foreign powers (in particular Russia). I would also be particulary interested in the involvment of and position taken by the religious authorities and figures during these events.
I also welcome any comment on this topic, of course.
I don’t know if this will help, but there’s some info here.
It’s not online, but if you have access to a library that either carries back volumes of the Journal of Middle Eastern Studies or can access them theough some version of inter-library loan, the one of the best short introductions to this topic ( with background info and coverage of events through 1907 ) is:
The Causes of the Constitutional Revolution in Iran by Ervand Abrahamian, J. Middle East. Stud. vol. 10 ( 1979 ), pgs. 381-414.
I have a hardcopy, but no scanner I’m afraid. Ice Wolf’s links covers some of the basics, but if you want clarification on a specific point, I’ll see if I can’t dig it out.

Thanks to both of you. Well…It seems I’ll have to pay a visit to an actual library if I want to know more about these events. I was hoping that the wonders of the internet would allow me to find some reasonnably detaillled infos without having to move my ass.
