Only bass coming out of my speaker set.

I have a Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 speaker set. Earlier today the sound would go in and out during a song except for the bass from the sub. I assumed that it had something to do to occasional high CPU load but now I am only geting bass more and more.

The soundcard is wired to the sub and the other speakers are wired to it, there is also a volume control wired to the sub that rests on the desktop. Sound coming out of the headphone port on the volume control is fine.

I would guess that it is some bad wire, but what connection would cause all five speakers to go out at the same time everytime?

Happens to me sometimes. I think it is a bad connection somewhere in the speakers. I tap the speakers lightly and the upper ranges return.

Have you tried using different speakers? If the problem does not persist, then you might want to open the sub and check the connections.

Are you listening to techno? Because it’s supposed to sound like that.
