"Only two things appear to be infinite...

…the Universe, and mankind’s stupidity. And I am not so sure about the Universe." Einstein said something like that, or so the legend affirms.

I’d like to share a bit of human stupidity courtesy of my place of work, somewhere in the Netherlands. We have a canteen, and people sometimes move tables and chairs in order to sit all together (if they come in a big group). It appears that, occasionally, people were putting tables and chairs where they shouldn’t, like right in front of the emergency exits.

So, the people in charge of those things decided that Something Had To Be Done ™. They put a notice explaining that there are places where you can’t put tables and chairs. It reads as follows:

"In view of the Fire and Safety
regulations, please do not put
any tables of chairs in front
of this exit.

Thank You"

All fine and dandy, were it not for the fact that this notice is affixed to a full-size notice panel that stands proudly right in front of the emergency exit (!!)

:smack:

Have you got any similar tales of corporate (or other) idiocy in this vein?

A former roommate of mine used to sometimes buy cigarettes in these large cans - I think they were camels, but I can’t find a picture.

They were a bit tricky to open - IIRC, to get them open you pushed the middle of the lid, and it would pop up.

Of course the manufacturers were smart and realized that it wasn’t quite obvious how to pen the can, so it came with directions for how to open it, on a little piece of paper. Inside the can.

You forgot my debt, that’s definately infinite
