Anyone watch the debate? I certainly didn’t.
I came to post the same thing.
I might have watched it, if I lived in Ontario. I did hear that Horwath admitted the NDP made a math error, but then countered with “We haven’t seen any of your (Ford) numbers yet” (or something to that effect). Nice. I respect Horwath for not trying to weasel out of the error and just saying that they made a mistake. Mistakes happen, the worst thing is to be a weasel about it (covfefe anyone?).
Hubs started watching it but gave up saying it was mostly just people talking over each other.
I saw some of the highlights on the news this morning, but I didn’t see anything that really stood out.
I get most of my daily election headline synopses from the TVO web site:
https://tvo.org/current-affairs/tag/ontario-election
That’s a good way to lose votes in Canada, istm, but it’s not really a social conservative stance. More wackadoo fiscal conservative. Neither was your last data stealing/vote stuffing example.
And another fly:
And that’s exactly the point: The current crop of Conservatives are still trying to act like they’re the moderate, sensible party of yesteryear, while in actual fact, they’re becoming more and more the Party of Stupid, with idiots like this as their candidates. They won’t publish a financial plan, but they will promote racism, conspiracy theories, and Trumpian “fake news” complaints.
And it’s finally, finally looking like this will cost them. They had this election in the bag, and may have thrown it away just to elect a know-nothing blowhard as their leader. If the PCs end up tanking, then every single one of those 30,000 idiots who voted for him in the leadership race should just sit down, STFU, and never engage in politics again. I just hope the rest of the conservatives in this country actually learn a lesson from all this.
What was she talking about while she was holding the hat?
My point was that Muffin said
But now he seems to be counting “flies” as any PC who gets caught at something, including one who iso far is guilty of holding a promo hat without any context.
Did you actually click on the link? In big type at the top it says
And a little further into the story it says
I’m not sure what your complaint against Muffin is, unless you think promoting an alt-right POV is just fine for political figures?
Well then be good enough to lay out what she said while promoting the site. Holding a hat lacks a certain heft when it comes to promoting.
Seriously I went and poked around and never found a statement by the woman related to the claim made by FBM’s creative director Cosmin Dzsurdzsa.
She promoted the alt-right by waving an alt-right hat at a public debate, which the alt-right took as a “shout out.” The alt-right is a very bad thing. Promoting the alt-right, as Skelly did, is a very bad thing.
I don’t buy it that Skelly is so stupid as to promote an organization that she is ignorant of. Plausible deniability does not cut it.
And the CBC poll aggregator has flipped back, with the PCs now ahead of the NDP by a mere 0.2%.
My first suspicion is that the little shit heels gave her the hat just before she went on stage and she had no idea what FBM is. I found the speech Van Hamme gave at that event:
If she held the hat up after that, she has some explaining to do.
But it’s bullshit for you to assume she was promoting the organization. For all you know all she said was “and here’s our next speaker who founded this website that’s on this hat he just gave me”. It was at a young conservative Christmas party ffs.
So write it up as stupidity for trusting young conservative flies enough to willingly advertise their cause for them without knowing what it was she was promoting. Stupid or malicious, hmmm, that’s quite a choice Ford is offering in that candidate.
CBC poll aggregator now has the NDP ahead again and the PCs only 15 seats ahead of the NDP - still in majority territory, but just barely.
Seems a very volatile electorate, but the PCs have been on a steady trend down.
Two weeks ago, they were projected to win over 90 seats; now, just barely enough for a majority. Projected to take 67 seats; need 63 for a majority.
If you switch it to Toronto and GTA polling, the NDP is really gaining there too. This could be a real deal close one if that continues.
It seems the Tories managed to break an election promise before the election itself will be held.
