Oops. I bought ubiquinol

I thought I was buying vitamin D, which I’ve been taking for years. Turns out I bought ubiquinol. Same shape bottle, and same colour label. Wasn’t wearing my glasses.

Any benefit to taking the ubiquinol? It was kind of expensive ($20). Any risks? What’s it for, anyway?

It is essentially similar to coenzyme Q10 and may have fairly modest skin or cardiovascular benefits.

It certainly can be a good supplement for alder adults.

Coenzyme Q10 has been used for heart problems (such as heart failure, angina), high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, gum disease, and certain diseases passed down through families (Huntington’s disease, muscular dystrophy). It has also been used for reducing the number of migraine headaches and for reducing cell damage that may occur after surgery or treatment with certain anti-cancer drugs.

It is generally very safe.

I take 300mg of Ubiquinol every day, as prescribed by my kidney doctor.

I bought it to possibly help with migraines but it made me itch all over. It started gradually so I didn’t realise it was the cause but after a week or so I figured it out and was completely cured after missing two doses.

Easily done - that stuff is everywhere.

I don’t have any of those. Oh, well. If there’s no downside I may as well take it. Of course now I’ll have to get into Trader Joe’s and get my vitamin D. (Two PCPs ago, my doctor put me on prescription amounts of vitamin D. Only took one bottle, but I’ve been taking the OTC from TJ’s.)

I’m always getting things by container shape/colour. My wife rolls her eyes. Once she wanted a bottle of white wine. I got the white wine bottle shape, and saw the yellow label. Turned out to be red. I got her some Knott’s boysenberry syrup, and it was really blueberry. I really need to learn to look before I buy when I’m in a hurry.

Well played sir.

DOH!

I missed it. I’m a little slow before coffee.

What if he’s an oak?

Ubiquinol is nowhere near as poplar in oaks.

Dammit! I came here to make that joke!

We can all make the joke.

:::golf clap:::

When I saw the thread title, I thought it must be something like “unobtainium” or “wonderflonium”. I’d never heard of ubiquinol.

And I came in to make this joke!

I don’t usually do emojis, but this seems appropriate.

Plant

You are barking up the wrong tree. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, since he’s @Johnny_L.A, he’s likely a California fan palm. Though if he’s a non-native transplant to L.A., he may be a Mexican fan palm or a Canary Island date palm.

FTR: SoCal native (born in Greater L.A.), grew up in San Diego and northern L.A. County, moved to the City of Los Angeles, now living in almost-Canadarrrrrr.
