hi - this is for the mods, i think. i hope this is the right forum. this is a technical kind of question, anyway. i dont think i have access to emailing mods and asking them in private anyway.
so years and years ago, i used to post under the name TheyCallMeSneeze. Then i dropped out of touch for awhile, and got a new email address and posted for maybe a day and a half under the name machete jess. and then i dropped out again (i was living in zambia, where internet is not really a widespread thing) and then i finally got back to the states into the internet thing and went to register for my free month. but my email address was already in use for machete jess, but i didnt want to be machete jess anymore, and so i registered under yams! under my other email account. but i never use this email account anymore, and so i typed it in wrong. so my activation email went to an account that doesnt exist. so finally i registered as yams!! (2 exclamation points) under my old email address.
so can somebody please fix my mistake maybe? let me be yams! (one exclamation point) under my good email address, and not my old one or my other one? i dont want to put email address in this post, but i bet you mods can find my email addresses or ask for them or something - the email address i want to use is the one originally designated for machete jess, but the name i want is yams! and if email address dont really matter, than i really dont care which email address is used, i just want to be yams! and not yams!!, and i didnt want you to freak out when you saw that a yams! AND a yams!! were registering and maybe sock puppets or something.
It’s a holiday weekend. TubaDiva will take a look on Monday and get things fixed up. Meanwhile, please DON’T register again, OK? One name, one registration, per person.
Actually, it would be much easier, too. You wouldn’t even need to involve a mod at all. Just log in as machetejess, go to the User Control Panel and edit the e-mail address to the “other” address that you don’t use, and then log back in as yams!! and change that e-mail address to the one you want.
Then, when TubaDiva gets back next week, you can arrange to get rid of your extraneous usernames.
I can’t handle this now – I’m out of town – but prepare to click on the “Subscribe” hyperlink under some name and subscribe, as you are in no way entitled to any more free time; it’s one free trial to a person and you’re already past that.
When I get back to town and my working computer we’ll get you straightened out. Your payment of $14.95 will make all your problems here go away. Nothing else will fix that.
this is the poster who would be known as yams!!, but because i am somewhat inept at the registering thing i am still, much to my chagrin, known as machete jess.
i have paid my 14.95 and was thinking all my problems would dissappear. alas, such is not the case. promises, promises!! when registering, i registered under my best email address, which was already attached to the name machete jess. i thought i would then be able to go in and change my user name to the desired yams!! unfortunately, it seems i went about it backwards, as i am able to change my email all i want but not my username.
tubadiva, i am sorry to have gotten this wrong, again, and to have taken so much time between bouts of mistaken and multiple identities, but now that i have paid my dues (literally), could you find it in your big, tuba-y heart to change my user name from machete jess to yams!!

and thank you indeed for your warnings concerning the various hogs. to be sure, a hog who has learned how to type and use a computer is a dangerous foe, but surely no match for a yam who has learned the same.
