Sorry if it’s been posted before but I don’t have the “search” ability. So say you were in their situation, something soooo simple to forget, I’m sure they have ladders built into boats now to prevent that sort of thing but what can you do to get back onto the boat? Dehydration, hunger, wrinkly skin, hypothermia are likely to kill you but SURELY there must be some clever way of getting back on the boat without using your swimming clothes as a rope?
Erm… nothing other than Wikipedia, but basically 6 friends, 3 girls and 3 guys go out on a yaught and they all go swimming but without having put the ladder out so they all cannot get back on board. They have with them in the water, a knife, an inflatable dolphin about a metre long that burst, 2 scuba goggles, bikinis and shorts and 1 lifejacket.
‘A weekend cruise on a luxurious party yacht goes horribly wrong for a group of old high-school friends. They forget to let the ladder down before they jump into the ocean for a swim. The boat proves impossible to climb…’
I tried to watch the trailer to get an idea of the freeboard of the boat. In my circles, 3 young men swimmers and to women swimmers can thrust a small woman 5’6" fully out of the water so the freeboard would need to be over 7-8 feet before we could not get one person on board.
But this kind of dumb thing has happened for real around water.
I’ am not sure I could watch because to get a 90+ minute movie out of this means there are long minutes of intense stupidity heroic talk that is too stupid for even an actor to read with a straight face.
The film is called Adrift and is about a bunch of eejits who go swimming from a boat without putting the ladder down first and then gasp can’t get back on the boat… it’s supposed to be based on actual events - but then so was Fargo
