Today is Opening Day of the boating season in the Pacific Northwest. The Windermere cup will be run this afternoon. (It’s a crew race, for the uninitiated)
Opening day is, traditionally, the first weekend in May, the Windermere cup is traditionally run on Opening Day.
One other Opening Day tradition is …rain. Yep! tradition will stand, once more, as the boating population of Seattle gets wet and drunk, tied to the log boom in the middle of Lake Washington, watching a race no one really cares about.
Likely, someone will drown, or near-drown today. The bright side, is no sunburns.
I’ll be home, staying out of the way…
You know, we’ve never taken our boat up to Lake Washington. I don’t know if we ever will.
There are plenty of lakes down here for us so we haven’t felt a real need to.
We won’t be taking our boat out today. I have too much to do before I leave for my trip back east. Besides, the weather is crappy today.
I meant to ask, picu, how the in-laws and hubby are doing. I hope you’re all doing better.
Also, I saw your post in the MMP about the PNW dopers getting together and going on the Victoria Clipper. The hubby and I would most definitely be up for that.
