I began watching the CNN video feed shortly after 2:00pm this afternoon, checking back every 30 minutes or so. What started as what seemed to be a single plume of oil now looks like multiple, possibly 4 plumes. What the heck?! Did BP just make things worse?

Dunno if they made it worse; might be easier to get ahold of the new plumes than the single was now.
But, yeah, I definitely see at least 3 places where oil is spewing out of something (the ground? a containment device? I can’t tell).
No matter how many plumes, I don’t see how it could be leaking more oil than before unless they widened the shaft. It’s probably more like putting your thumb over the end of a hose, making the water squirt out in other directions.
I see 4 plumes, and not evenly spaced. That does not look like a happy-happy-good-good piece of undersea equipment doing what it was designed to do.
I think the camera in the CNN feed is in the same position it was when I first began watching it earlier when there seemed to be a single plume. There are now definitely at least 3.
The chatter I’m reading seems to be assuming that the plumes are a mixture of mud, gas & oil.
Looks like they broke away from the BOA Deep 1 single camera feed.
I’m looking at a feed with six views, do you have that?
Oil Drum chatter thread:
Well crap, it’s down.
I really do not see a debate, here.
I would suggest continuing any follow-up commentary in the other threads on the topic: e.g., LiveFeed from the oil spill .
