This word (the singular, anyway, supposedly a word for a type of dragonfly) is occasionally touted at the highest-valued seven-letter word in Scrabble, totally a whopping 30 points with just the base value.
However, it’s not in the OSPD, and I don’t know specifically of any dictionaries that do contain it.
The only references I’ve been have been those that attest to its high value in Scrabble. I have not found any references that actually refer to it as a bug (“Oh, honey, the zyxommas are really bad today”).
I agree that it should not be in OSPD, or any other “standard” dictionary, because it’s not really a critter specifically, but a genus (as best as I can determine), which is typically not considered a “real” word.
Any thoughts on this?
