So I just got an email about a limited-time discount on Genie Timeline Pro for $10 instead of $60.
Has anyone else used this software for regular data backups? I currently have Genie Backup Manager Home v8, and while it works well enough, it’s buggy. Really buggy. It’s supposed to do hot backups using the Shadow Volume Service, but it never has, it just flat out won’t backup any file that’s currently in use. Sometimes it purges old backups like it’s supposed to, and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes backups fail randomly, but when I check/verify the backup files nothing seems wrong – that I can tell. Then the same backup will run fine the next time. It’s completely inconsistent, not user-friendly, and I’m tired of having to babysit it.
So my concern is whether or not there’s been any improvement in the bugginess with v9, or if it’s the same old thing. I don’t feel like spending even $10, plus the time needed to set it all up all over again, if it’s going to give me the same headaches I deal with now.
