Oppa Gangnam Style - awesome Korean music video

Just wanted to add another parody video: NASA Johnson Style.

Put together by NASA co-ops. The folks in blue jumpsuits are real astronauts (but not the guy in orange). And the old folks in suits at the end are real NASA bigwigs. That’s Michael Coats (JSC Center Director, retiring this month) and Ellen Ochoa (Deputy Center Director and taking over Center Director in January) at the end.

No, working at NASA isn’t that cool. We don’t break out in horsey dancing during the workday.

We can dance…for inspiration…

Must be a hit with old white men, since that’s who watch football. Psy performed during the NFL halftime show yesterday in Toronto. Tres bizarre.

You work at NASA! How cool!

Admittedly it’s a bit intimidating to go against the grain, here, as all of you are thoroughly convinced of the gangnam brilliance . . . But Jesus Christ. If this is your idea of entertainment, much less art worthy of millions of views. . . Ugh. I’m disappointed with my race beyond words. “He doesn’t even stop singing while on the toilet”. “He’s so cocky”. “What joy”. . .

Fascinating, folks. Fascinating.

You’re outvoted 971,518,818 to one.

You’re So Jelly that I’m gonna give you some peanutbutter and you can go make me a sammich

The idea of GS making it to a billion on the Mayan Apocalypse date is intriguing. I thought it had no chance, but it’s getting close. Probably more like on Saturday unless a lot of people get into countdown (countup?) mode. There is ambiguity as to the specific timing. Are we talking Friday for Korea? The Mayans? Might make a difference.

Perhaps those Mayans were wiser than we thought. Maybe Psy reaching a billion hits on Friday will be the catalyst.

Anyway, while there’s still time, this is of interest: Cambodian protesters use pop song. “The Cambodian Daily Independent Newspaper said the protesters were calling for higher factory wages and better protection for migrant workers, and used the dance to get international attention.”

But I can’t believe no one took a video of this! At least none I could find, on that page or anywhere else. Or are my old eyes simply failing me?

Oh, if only Gangnam Style had been around under the Khmer Rouge, a great tragedy might have been averted. :frowning:

986,864,299 now.

994 million now.

Maybe a billion will jump-start the apocalypse.

998,976,706 at present.

I think it’s clear this thing will giga today.

Oh, Rahu, you rascal, what are you up to?!

1,000,382,639! And it gets a little dancing icon! This world may now rest in peace

Awesome!

Oh my end of the world, this means that just about half of everyone in the world with an internet connection has seen this video. I wonder if my mom has seen it. If so, that is just… it’s too much for me. My mom just figured out what “LOL” meant.

But does she think it means Lots Of Love?

There was a big surge in views in the last couple of days. So Psy made it easily to 1G for the apocalyptic win.

The next “milestone” is when is it going to go stale. I don’t see it lasting at anywhere this rate for much more than a month. Oh, Groundhog Day! If Psy sees his shadow on Feb. 2nd then we have 6 more weeks of Gangam.

Heh, I’m pretty sure she’s known its meaning for a while, but it wouldn’t surprise me to find she learned it didn’t mean Lots of Love last Wednesday. I actually had to type out a step by step guide for her to use the computer and get on the internet. She has the hang of it now (I think), but I don’t even think she knows what YouTube is. If it turns out she’s seen Psy’s music video, it is truly the most pervasive thing in the world.

You know, it wouldn’t surprise me that Psy’s video actually prevented the apocalypse. How could anyone have predicted, except the Mayans, that a Korean artist who released a music video in the middle of summer would hit 1 billion views on the exact date of the end of the world??? Its too coincidental…

… and there is no such thing as coincidence. maybe the aliens saw the video and changed their minds.
