I love the letters to the editor column in the local paper. People always have such interesting ideas.
There was a delightful example just the other day, a fellow fulminating against a law recently passed by the city council. The law restricts what you can do in the city’s parks, which prompted the writer to charge that banning activities in “public, outdoor areas” is “oppressive and tyrannical.” A pretty good start. But then there was this gem:
“Should the government,” he inquired, “really have the right to dictate what can and cannot be done on public property?”
Well, um, as a matter of fact…oh, never mind.
