Optimizing Images for Cellphones?

Does anyone know how to optimize cellphone wallpaper images? I use tagtag.com to download personal cellphone wallpapers. I know it accepts .jpg and .gif files but the .jpg’s leave something to be desired through tagtags upload conversion process. They aren’t nearly as crisp. I assume the correct dimensions for cellphone wallpaper is 174pX132p, as this is the size of all the professional cell phone wallpapers I’ve come across. I’ve simply been resizing jpeg images in Photoshop to those dimensions and uploading to tagtag. Is there anyway to insure a crisper clearer image on the cellphone?

You may be better off optimizing by hand. That’s an ultra low resolution for a still and being single bit (true B&W, no grayscale) doesn’t help. Sometimes you can get a decent image automatically but sometimes yo have to manually choose what details are important to the image.

Totally depends on the target phone. My phone, for example, has dimensions way different than yours.

I also just resize the jpeg, and I upload through www.3gupload.com, then download on my phone. My phone supports 65,000 colors, and everything I’ve uploaded after just resizing a jpeg turns out to be just as clear as on my monitor.

With this type of thing, YM will definitely vary.
