I remember a song sung by a woman with the lyric ‘Or perhaps get eaten by a bear’. Can someone identify the song? Perhaps something from Schoolhouse Rock?
Sounds like Allan Sherman’s “Hello Muddah Hello Faddah”:
Though Sherman wasn’t a woman as far as I know.
“Take me home, oh muddah fadduh, take me home, I hate Grenada
Don’t leave me out in the forest where I might get eaten by a bear.
Take me home, I promise I will not make noise or mess the house with
other boys, oh please don’t make me stay, I’ve been here one whole day.”
Checking out Schoolhouse Rock, there’s a bear mentioned in the Adjectives. But it only gets described, and doesn’t eat anyone.
Could you be thinking of Tangerine Kitten’s “Dumb Ways To Die” which has the lines:
“Set fire to your hair
Poke a stick at a grizzly bear
Eat medicines that’s out of date
Use your private parts as piranha bait
Dumb ways to die, so many dumb ways to die” ?
That’s it!
I mis-remembered the singer being a woman.
Sheesh, I should have known this one without asking. I have at least three Allan Sherman CDs on my iTunes! :smack:
Thanks.
Dr. Demento used to play it all the time.
He still does, but he’s had to go to Internet only. Here’s the link.
