Oral Anti-Fungal medicine

Recently a doctor suggested I have a toenail clipping analyzed by a lab for fungus. If the test comes back positive, I would be prescribed a regimen of anti-fungal medicine.

Questions:
1: How does it work?
2: Will it take care of athlete’s foot and jock itch as well?

Thanks,
capn

  1. If it’s the one I had years ago, it works only as the nail grows (it stops the fungus growing on the new nail growth only), so you have to keep taking it for weeks.

  2. No. Use Canestan or similar for that - make sure you keep using it for some time after you feel like the infection is gone.
