Oral surgery today

We just got back from the oral surgeons office, my son minus a tooth.

He was very brave and strong. He didn’t cry or complain at all. I cried when I went back into the room to see him after they had removed the tooth. His little face was pudgy and swelled. We left the surgeons office to go to Walmart to get some kids Tylenol and some more gauze pads, then to the grocery store to get a supply of soft foods. He is laying on the couch now watching Disney’s Twice Upon A Christmas.

I think the tooth fairy will be leaving a hefty sum for this tooth!

Oohh, I feel his pain. I had a molar out on Tuesday. I’ve been using a teabag instead of the gauze pads. The herbal ones are not as strong as your regular black/orange pekoe. Wet the bag and put it down in the hole, just like you do with the gauze pads. This helps prevent dry socket.
Just a thought…

Two years ago, I had all four wisdom teeth removed at once. They put me under for the surgery, then gave me Percoset (a narcotic) for a painkiller afterwards. And it *still *hurt like a bitch. I also had to take an antibiotuc to keep possible infections out. I couldn’t eat solid food for about four days. It sucked. Badly.

Your son has my sympathy. I had three teeth pulled last week (and anticipate having all pulled next week for dentures - blech).

Soft foods, snuggles, and serious pain medication have gone a long way toward my feeling better
