I was told that there was a simple way to change the orange construction signs on the road that display multiple screens saying things like “Road construction 2 miles.” “Please slow down”
A buddy of mine told a story about how they changed a sign in his college town as a prank. Is this possible? If so, how can it be done by an ordinary person?
I’d be surprised if the board administration allowed a discussion of how to do something which in all likelihood is illegal. In any case, I’m pretty sure those signs are controlled from a central location either by wire or a secure digital RF channel. I doubt the average Joe is capable of changing them.
Well, first of all, be very drunk. Secondly, plan on going to jail if you are caught. As far as changing the sign, I have no idea. I’m sure they have taken measures to prevent this sort of thing. Wouldn’t your buddy tell you his technique?
Do you mean just the regular road signs or the…I guess…eletronic ones that pop up stuff, like “Road Construction 2 miles” then “watch your speed!”. I seem to recall 2600 magazine running some kinda article on hacking the electronic kind.
there was one i drove by every night at a construction site where there was a lowered speed limit. it seemed to blip “you’re speeding” at random ti mes when traffic was passing, andc i thought, maybe the speedometer thing is a laser. then during a jam itt did the same thing. the state put out a giant electric lighgt array sign thing and had it show random momen ts of "youre speeding
