Orchid growing Dopers

Or, Dopers who grow orchids…
I have Phaalaenopsis and some success with Paphiopedilum, but I’ve gone beyond my competence and purchased a Masdevallia on Ebay. Taylor’s Guide to Orchids tells me it is more important to keep the roots dry and the air humid than the 40 or 50 degrees at night that I cannot provide. Do any Dopers have advice?
