Orcs Must Die! [tower defense, with headshots!]

I got this during the Steam sale and it’s a lot of fun. Looked for a “walkthru” for a level I was having trouble with and I’m wondering if I’m missing something. There are all kinds of traps and spells that I don’t have at all. I’ve made it to level 10. Do I just have to go further to get these? The “walkthru” was for my level and they had way more things than I do.

Also, can you upgrade an item more than once? It doesn’t seem as if you can, but I am not sure.

You can only upgrade an item once.

A new trap/item is introduced with every level.

It’s generally quite hard to 5 star a level first time through. Part of the fun is going back to an already completed level with new traps you’ve unlocked and getting a higher rating.

That’s another complaint I have, actually - that you can go back and do campaign mode with all the stuff you unlocked, thereby making your original campaign run’s leaderboard scores irrelevant. I got the impression I wasn’t very good at the game because my leaderboard scores were in the 10-20k range a lot, but it’s not a fair comparison since anyone running back through the map with all their unlocked and upgraded stuff should beat me easily.

They should do what Defense Grid does and have lots of different modes for every map, and a different leaderboard for each mode. One mode could be campaign mode, where only the stuff you had to work with at that stage the first time is allowed, another could be a mode that allowed all upgrades.

This exactly.

I got the game on sale and just started playing. After going through the first 4 levels I decided to retry the second level. I was not watching my health and managed to die on that level, so I figured I’d try it again.

Not only did I improve my score, but it now shows me as much higher than Senor Beef in the rankings, which is clearly not the case.

I have no problem with being able to go back and redo levels with new toys - that means a lot of replayability. But at least separate the scores so you can tell who you are competing against.

Otherwise, lots of fun so far!

Game is on sale again today for $3.75 and if you’re thinking about it, get it. It’s great.

Also, the DLCs are on sale for under a buck each, so grab them both.

I’m thinking about hosting a leaderboards scoring competition. We pick a different map every week, and everyone tries to get the top score on it. What do you guys think?

You’ll need to be on my friends list so I can track everyone’s scores, so add me if you haven’t already. Same name on steam.

I want to give some people time to get into the game. The leaderboard competition isn’t really fair until you’ve gotten further into the game because you can go back and use your newly unlocked traps on the old maps. So I’ll post one in a few days. Work on getting through the maps and unlocking your new traps.

Just bumping this as it’s on 75% sale on steam today

Daily sale on steam, $5, grab it. Also, I forgot about the score competition I was going to host. I guess I’ll get that going and see if there’s interest.

Bumped to subscribe.

Yes on the interest.

Sounds like Trenched! now Iron Brigade for the 360 (which is really great fun if you have someone to play with).
