Potentially, Bloodfeast still has the hit points of an allosaurus although he needs to make a Will check once a day or else would take on the hit points of a lizard (if the Polymorph is dispelled he’d revert to normal hp). I thought that perhaps he had the attack dice of an allosaurus and that’s why he could harm Gondor but that doesn’t seem to be the case and I suppose Gondor getting harmed (however slightly) by nonmagical lizard teeth was artistic license.
V seems to have improved her relationship with Blackwing considerably since even V’s initial epiphany. V treats Blackwing as something of an equal, worthy of being asked rather than commanded and, for instance, didn’t just take Blackwing’s ioun stone despite it being of considerable value to a caster. Old V cared only for power and thus had no interest in Blackwing’s existence when it did not directly benefit her and would have certainly claimed the ioun stone as being her’s (given that Blackwing is her’s) to increase her spellcasting. That she didn’t says volumes for her growth as a person and her relationship with Blackwing.
V did dismiss Blackwing’s initial empathic call of distress but only because V has been receiving them regularly since boarding the ship and has presumably checked in before. Otherwise V wouldn’t have known that the prior times were about the pirates laying money-eyes on the bracelet.
I bet that Durkula has already released the new vampire from thralldom. He referred to him as “my high priest” rather than “master”, and when Durkula was still in thrall he didn’t even have enough sense to stay out of direct sunlight, much less speak in complex sentences. Maybe they were even buddies as negative energy spirits in Hel’s domain before all this got started.
That’s what I thought at first. However the timing has not been established. It may be that Darkon sent his minion on the mission before he went after Belkar. He could be biting Belkar right now.
More importantly, V has established that, at the very least, the discussions between the Gods have started, if not the battle itself (“A good deal of yellow light and a few solid thumps”), and Belkar met his doom well before that.
True but, as yellowjacketcoder points out, unless Belkar falls at the speed of cotton fluff he’s well below airship altitude by now. Potentially below ground level as well
I get that Rich is trying to draw out the suspense or whatever, but ugh. I’ve gotten whiplash from the extreme cessation of interesting action following that battle.
I think it’s a Goliath, not a half-giant. So all Belkar needs is a slingshot…
Did anyone else notice V and Blackwing in the background of the flashback panel? Looks like they just left that merchant’s shop, since Blackwing is wearing the bauble. Also, if they were coming to the shop, Belkar would still be there and he wasn’t.
He chooses where he puts his points, and I can’t see the Belkster putting those points towards WIS. Even then, he’d need a WIS equal to 10 + spell level, which even if he’d gotten up to 10, means he can’t cast anything, since he’d need a WIS of 11 to cast first level spells. EVEN THEN, there’s not a lot on the ranger spell list I can see him preparing in advance (maybe Jump or Resist Energy), and he only gets 2 spells per day.
Long story short, in the unlikely even he can now cast spells, there’s almost no chance he has anything helpful prepared.
