Remind me why Dad the that report away?
Because he’s single-minded. His only goal if for Xykon to be defeated and he’s certain Roy can’t do it. So all Eugene is doing is passing the time while waiting for Roy to die and get out of the way so Julia can do the job. He only sees Roy as an obstacle getting in his way. Passing information on to Roy won’t help Eugene, so he sees no reason to do it.
As we saw in this strip (and in numerous others) Roy has a share of his father’s traits. He is too certain of his own beliefs. But Roy’s certainty is mitigated by concern for other people (a trait he presumably gets from his mother).
V’s last line is great.
It is, but Haley’s is the one that made me giggle the most.
Basically because he approved of what V did, and would have done the same given the choice (minus the familicide). So he didn’t want V getting in trouble with Roy nor for it to distract Roy from the mission. It’s both professional courtesy for another wizard and what Little Nemo said. He thinks it would only get in the way.
It’s also shows so much character growth! Before “magic is great” was all that V cared about. It was all about power.
Off-topic, but I just got “Uncivil Servant” and if you like Belkar’s shenanigans, it is pretty hilarious!
Glad you mentioned that. Turns out, I chose to view rather than save my copy, meaning it was in my Temp folder, ready to be deleted at any time!
When “Spoiler Alert” starring Therkla comes out to the general public, you should get that too.
Yeah, “Uncivil Servant” was good for a few chuckles, but “Spoiler Alert” was genuinely great.
Haley’s good enough to 1-shot 4 frost giants in one round? OK, granted, they’d already been lightly toasted and she’s invisible but still, that’s impressive.
The fireball probably did extra damage to them. They’d be vulnerable to it. And Haley’s using her proficient weapon AND backstabbing. That’s some serious damn multipliers.
Assuming no metamagic, the fireball would be doing 10d6 damage. Frost giants, being cold creatures, would take half again that much. And Haley’s shots are each dealing 1d8 from the pointy stick, +5 from the magical enhancement on the bow, and 8d6 from it being a Sneak Attack. So we’re looking at a total damage of 23d6+1d8+5, or an average of 90 points.
Although… frost giants have an average of 133 HP. Even with lucky rolls, that does stretch the bounds of plausibility.
I wasn’t doubting that it was plausible, BTW, I was just expressing admiration.
I’m not sure it does. Maximising the Fireball gives 60 HP base for the Fireball which becomes 90 HP and Haley’s damage is 1d8 +5 +5 + 8d6 or a max of 66 HP (72 if Haley is 17th level) which still isn’t enough.
Off to the Class & Level Geekery thread. ![]()
Maybe its the second fireball V cast.
Eh, not going to sweat such things.
Blech, spot the simple addition error in my post above!
