Order of the Stick - Book 6 Discussion Thread

Get ready for #1072 in early July or so.

A bit unfair. The slow updates of late have been due to him working to get O-Chul finished. Now that’s done, the online strips will be much more frequent. For a while, at least. I predict that the next 10 will be 2 to 3 days apart.

The next comic coming in July was a bit facetious, however I expect he may do 2-3 at a reasonable pace before slowing back into apathy. I’ll be surprised if we get more than 10 before the end of August.

“It never failed him before.”

The O-Chul comic was a massive undertaking. I think Rich will want to get out a bunch of strips just for his own sanity.

Calling it apathy is a disservice to Mr Burlew. He works hard, but has a lot of other things to do besides drawing the strip. He’s his own publisher, for example. And in the fall, he draws a calendar and does Christmas ornaments. The strip always slows down at that time of year, even if he’s not doing Kickstarter projects.

When you own a dog you have to feed and hydrate it, and you ought to take it for some good walks, keep up with its jabs, groom it reguarly etc. Burlew is taking his dog for a walk whilst it is almost starving to death.

Again, he is better served by getting slightly ahead of himself so as to be able to release comics at a slow, if steady pace before he starts in on the various other projects.

If he released one every 12-15 days, it would be slow, but we wouldn’t be having these conversations.

It’s a matter of taste, but I disagree. OotS used to be a “last read” comic when it popped up in my feed. Most comics are grouped in a homogeneous pile, but the very best comics are saved for when I have a few moments to really appreciate them. OotS has lost that distinction in the pantheon of comics that I pay attention to.

The nature of my appreciation has changed, too. Nowadays, a particularly good joke or punchline will have me saying something like, “Oh, well done. Rich really got a laugh out of me there!”

Those observations are coming from a place of surprised delight. I’ve realized that I don’t go into individual strips expecting them to be great. I’m reading them out of momentum.

I can 100% guarantee that I would’ve lost all interest months ago if not for RSS reminders.

If that pans out, I’ll happily provide you with a letter of reference to James Randi…

Right. Because the guy who released ninety-six pages of work this week is obviously slacking off.

These two were already released in digital form, though. I hope he continues to do that with the rest.

Sounds like this one is in-between. How many pages are the two prequel books? They sell for $10 and $12.

I guess I’m just trying to figure out how much I’ll have to pay.

1071: Never Failed Him Before

Still nothing important happening, but at least there is an update. :frowning:

You’re 13 posts late.

Strange, I didn’t see it last night when I checked.

Weird, right Chimera? An OOTS update and a half SDMB page worth of posts about it, rather than three or four updates’ worth of posts fitting on one SDMB page. Hopefully a trend that sticks.

Not a Kickstarter, so I won’t see this new story for awhile. But I did fork over cash for the Belkar story, and I’d be willing to pay e-Start of Darkness prices for this O-Chul tale.

Does Blood Runs In The Family have enough extras to make it worth getting in pdf?

No surprise-very last post on the previous page, and the person who did it didn’t enlarge the text link as has been de rigeur for awhile now.

De rigueur, s’il vous plaît.

1072

better?

Can we please just have a montage and a fast-forward to something interesting?
