…and that’s just what it’ll do
One of these days this sword
Is gonna be thrown by Roy at you…
1123 is up.
[sub]I got to do that twice now![/sub]
Too bad there’s no (obvious) easy way to snap Elan out of it. Would Song of Freedom work on the Dominate effect? I assume so.
Takes a minute to sing though. Only works on one subject and he can’t sing to himself.
They need something to at least interrupt the Domination. A Protection from (n-Alignment Axis) would work, like Belkar’s clasp. So would a Magic Circle against (Alignment). Then you could do something to actually break the Domination, like Elan’s Song, or V casting Break Enchantment, as a simple Dispel won’t do it. Break Enchantment’s got a 10 minute casting time though.
Looks like we’re going to have to be saved by whatever inner dialogue Durkon manages to spin up to get Greg & Friends to leave the area before they TPK the Order.
The railroading smells a bit like the Miko fight, way back when. Still, trust in Burlew.
I knew he couldn’t sing it on himself but didn’t know about the one minute casting time. OOTS lied to me! ![]()
Durkon promised to not say anything more during the fight if D* would look at one last memory. So it’s going to have to be something in that memory that does it.
Well, to be true, they didn’t say how long the country-music panel lasted.
It’d be kinda’ badass for Elan to just strum his banjo and strut through the banquet hall like some demented version of Bela Fleck, reversing the mind control spell as fast as the vamps could dish it out.
I think though the Order instead is going to be saved by Greg picking up and running. Which is going to be tied to all of those memories in Durkon’s head and their relationships to the story. Be neat if Kraagor shows up in one of them. I doubt he was a resident of Firmament, but he was a 20-ish level Dwarven Barbarian. You’d think the natives would have at least heard of him.
I agree. I can’t see any other thing sparing Greg from deciding to kill them all, and I don’t think Roy + V + Minrah can hold them off before at least V and Minrah get killed.
Which leads to wondering how in the Hel is V still alive after taking that Sonic Lance, three arrows or so from Haley—with one of them being a sneak attack, and whatever falling damage s/he took from hir Overland Flight getting knocked out. I guess the Bear’s Endurance didn’t get dispelled. EDIT: Though it looks like V’s probably into negative HP, with hir just laying there, yet no Xs on the eyes. Still though.
And dammit, where’s my dinosaur already? I thought the whole point of sending giraffes in was to clue the reader in that the banquet hall was tall enough for Bloodfeast to properly rage?
Bloodfeast is in a Bag of Holding and, as I understand it, the Dispel Magic spells can’t get to him there.
I notice that Durkoff is setting his chair upright. I’d guess he’s going to start monologuing.
Oh man, poor Minrah. Stabbed right in the boob.
Small, confusing thing: when Belkar stabs the cleric, he says, “Protect V.” The cleric was trying to heal V. Why did he say “Protect V”?
In the previous comic, Roy said, “Belkar, protect V.”
Is there something complicated going on here, or am I reading too much into it?
I think the vampire gave him a mental push along the lines of “This person is approaching V, it must be to hurt hir.” Just tweaking his perceptions a little bit.
The mental command was probably something like “that cleric is trying to kill V, get him!”
Belkar barely needed a push because a) “protect V” was already his order and b) he wanted to go after ‘the clerics’ anyway.
Ironically, Belkar would probably find it pretty annoying that he cared about Roy’s orders enough to make them useful to the vampire.
I figured “barely needed a push” was more just “Haha, Belkar likes stabbing things”
If V is into negative hit points, is she going to keep bleeding until she reaches -10 and dies, or until she’s healed?
They get a check every round to see if they stabilize, or keep bleeding.
That said, the odds on that check aren’t good. Much better to get some magical healing: Even if it’s not enough to get you back into the positives, it’ll automatically stabilize you.
Cool link!
And dammit, let’s get to a reveal already!
