The mom burns continue.
And I think Burlew has a kid. No real evidence other than he nails baby facial expressions being handled and exposed to new people.
Thanks for the fix, JC. How embarrassing.
Belkar, like the rest of the group, is very high level. We’ve seen him shrug off anti-evil attacks. But he notices the effects when they’re made. I’m assuming this is the first time he’s crossed an anti-evil barrier without triggering it.
That’s no worries. More embarrassing is my own type in the edit field. Quel dommage.
That had me giggling harder than the strip has in a long time. Sigdi is amazing.
Don’t rune traps have a specific amount of damage they do and then disappear? The ones in the banquet room where the fight with the vampires happened did. So did the one on the step outside the door that the Order first came in through. So if these runes were a trap that Belkar triggered on the way out, they shouldn’t still be there now. Also, he should have taken some damage when leaving the temple and he didn’t. These runes are probably something else.
I would have fixed the typo, but I opened this thread just as I needed to be getting out the door. I didn’t even get a chance to read the comic before just now (which was annoying me all afternoon). Thanks for the assist, JC.
Sometimes, but not always. A lot of magical traps can reset themselves after firing.
Take a leaf from Sergeant Sigdi folks: that’s how you persuade someone. First you show some empathy and build up your social capital: make them care about your opinion. Then you express your point of view. Then you circle back, tacking on softeners.
When you state your POV, keep it brief. This isn’t about self expression. Make it something that the counterpart might accept if not necessarily agree with. Keep it reasonable. Operate at their level, in their language. Then pivot to something else.
The key aspect though is getting the counterpart to invest in your opinion of them. That’s a necessary component.
Yes, you also want to show that you’re invested in the situation. Don’t make threats in a casual manner; if you do people might not take them seriously. For the same reason, don’t make hyperbolic threats.
You want to show that you care about the situation and that you can relied on to follow through with the threat that you’ve made.
I liked the subtle joke, replacing “water under the bridge” with “water over the tunnel”.
OK, but he still didn’t take any damage leaving the temple. Also, Hilgya, who is almost certainly Evil, just walked over the same runes and she didn’t get zapped.
Reminds me of how, to Terry Pratchett’s trolls, the “dawn of time” means the end.
Thanks for bringing that up, Belkar. I, too, was wondering why he hadn’t changed out of those ripped robes yet.
Also, I’m amused at the close-up LOKI SUCKS message.
A hammer *and *gloves/gauntlets. Missing a belt so I guess we’re not getting Crom Faeyr.
“Loki Sucks”, as a code, certainly puts “Speak, friend, and enter” in the shade.
Mmm…ruminant boob drippings…
Roy has a belt…
