That’s what he reminded me of, too.
“Wanna storm the gates of Hell again?” “Eh, we did that last week.”
Or something like that.

Rich said some time ago that we still have a lot to go, but we are past the halfway point.
Let’s say there are around 500 strips left. At his current rate that’s about 20 years to finish.
AIUI, we’re on Book 6 of 7. And nearly at the end of that one. The site says we’re on Strip 1163. I think Peter or dtilque went through the math upthread and said we have about 25-50 strips left in this book. BRITF ran from 673-946. I’m guessing this book will go about as long. Let’s say he takes 300 to write the next book. So 325-350 to go.
Shit, that’s still 650 weeks plus, or over 12 more years. I hope he’ll pick it up, once the rest of the Kickstarter stuff is done. Even then though, I remember reading that our guess for his minimum turn time was like 6 days ish. Which is still another 5 years of writing.
I like it, but I don’t think it would ever have been this popular if updates were once a fortnight.
Probably because the guy’s beard is a different color than Thad’s…
Not me. I don’t estimate how long books are.
I did estimate that it takes him about 3 days to do one strip since the latest art upgrade. But that’s if he doesn’t do anything else.
Originally, I think they were a couple times a week. But the art was much simpler then and it didn’t take very long to draw one.
When I started, it was (mostly) Monday-Wednesday-Friday.
Also, new AMFES on sale.
Preparing it maybe explains the slow updates recently. Expect them more frequently for a few weeks.
Awwww… Belkar called Durkon his buddy.
I’m wondering if Belkar has his Cloak Clasp activated. He engaged in a staring contest with Gontula and didn’t get Dominated, which he always has before. But there doesn’t seem to be any aura showing his pain from an activated Clasp. Well he did get a +3 vest of resistance, but it hasn’t helped him before. So this may be a sign he’s moved a bit to the shallower end of the alignment pool.
OK, I just realized that there’s the orange barrier in between G and B which blocks spells and spell-like effects. It’s why Gontula had to stick his hands and the scroll out to try to cast the Horrid Wilting. So never mind.
Whoa, so now it’s Belkar who’s getting all wise and metaphysical?
And how does Belkar (or anyone) know how Durkon out-thought the Durkon-vamp, killed him with memories?
Presumably Durkon told his colleagues all about it, off-panel. No great mystery there.
I assume that’s how belkar knows about the little man inside durkula’s head. We say the start of that conversation on-panel.
I’m just surprised that Belkar didn’t take the “Horrid Will-ow” comment as a dig at himself. But he did manage to stop the spell, remove the vamp from the battle and distract the worm so a good round for him.
Note that another A Monster For Every Season was released at the same time as this strip. And this strip was sooner than the 2-week period we’ve been seeing lately. Obviously, that’s what he was working on that made the update rate be so slow.
Personally, I wish he’d work on something else he’s promised, like the Dark Sun parody. I don’t care for AMFES myself, but he seems to really like them, so he’s actually doing more than originally promised. Anyway, expect a faster update rate for the next few weeks until he gets involved in some other task.
The last Kickstarter bonus that I was actively looking forward to was the O-Chul one. Yeah, I’ll read and probably enjoy Dim Sun and the CPPD and whatever else is left, but they’re likely to be lighter fare. And, heck, I don’t really feel like I’m owed any of them.
But on the other hand, I wasn’t particularly looking forward to the Therkla story, either, except it turned out to also be a Sangwaan story, and she was one of my favorite characters and got even better there. So you never know.
There’s also a Sir Francois story (which I assume which feature Elan) and another Julio Scoundrel story in the schedule.
I thought we already got the Julio Scoundrel story? Him and the Mummy Queen?
