Order of the Stick - Book 6 Discussion Thread

Hel might know about it? (Assuming all vampires, like Malack, work(ed) for Hel.)

So… this is when Belkar dies, right?

Belkar did put some skill points into lox picking.

Malack pretty clearly worked for Nergal, the eastern pantheon god of death and destruction. Hel wouldn’t want a lizard-person, the Dwarves are her realm.

Doh!

Well . . . perhaps “draws his last breath, ever” means Belkar becomes a vampire.

That’s what I’m expecting. Although after that, I expect someone will kill the vampire.

I’m betting against Belkar being turned into a vampire, for two reasons: we already have a story about a member of the party turning into a vampire, and having Belkar vamped now would undercut Durkon’s sacrifice when he saved Belkar from being vamped by Malack.

That’s a good point.

And Belkar’s prophecy also says that he’s “not long for this world”. Yeah, yeah, he could get turned into a sexy shoeless mecha-golem and plane-shifted to the quasisemidemihemielemental plane of salsa con queso, and the prophecy would still be fulfilled… but smart money is on him just plain dying and staying dead.

I wish to propose a motion that the first action taken on game night be the summoning of a salsa con queso quasisemidemihemielemental. And a Mountain Dew golem.

The countdown to 1000 continues apace!

I think red is highly appropriate this time:

996

I am going to flout consensus here and predict that Belkar survives, and comes back with vengeance flaming in his eyes.

But at the last possible moment.

Can halflings even achieve terminal (as in splat) velocity ? We already know they can’t be hanged

What’s the fiery aura about ? Is it Belkar going supersayan, Fairy Lights from Durkula (…why ?), what ?

Also, that’s a pretty big wolf to shapeshift into. Vamps typically only do regular ones. Though I guess it could have been wolf shape + Holy Might.

An undamaged Belkar would easily survive the 20d6 damage from the fall.

Looks like the protection from evil amulet didn’t help much.

Looks like he’s falling into water. I think that negates some damage.

Looks like Durkula left Belkar’s daggers behind. That’ll probably come in later. “Belkar would NEVER leave his stabbing implements unattended!”

I guess there’s also a broken window to provide a little clue.

Vampires can shapeshift into Dire Wolves, which is probably what Durkula did.

An undamaged Belkar would probably survive the fall, but he’s already taken damage from the wolf bite and the fire, so he’s going to be in bad shape, but narratively it doesn’t make sense for him to go out like a bitch, so I bet he survives somehow.

As far as the fire though, not sure what that is. It’s not Flame Strike or Fire Storm from the animation (those would be a column). It’s not one of the various Inflict X Wounds (those are touch attacks). I would guess it’s a cleric power than can be used silently, but no idea what it might be.
