Tiny Ideas

Ha! That was a very good strip.

Power creep of hands, Elan’s terrible idea, AND we are moving the strip along.

What does this mean?

Lien and Sunny are walking into the room. Lien just healed Sunny, who is complaining that “Lay on Hands” is an example of power creep (classes getting more and more powerful features in new versions or updates. The worst example is when a DLC faction in a game is just inherently superior to the base factions).

This would lead you to believe that Sunny is upset about how powerful Paladins are getting in new editions, but Lien’s response is humorous because it reveals that actually Sunny is upset about how powerful hands are, not Paladins. He thinks “Lay On Hands”, the Paladin healing ability, is an example of hands getting more powerful rather than Paladins getting more powerful (and obviously he is upset by this because he doesn’t have hands).

Sorry my eyes glazed over Lien’s bubble, didn’t spot it.

I guess you failed you Spot check

You have officially nailed it. Well done, you.

Ta. I’ll ask a mod to go back three weeks and change it so I said “Vaarsuvius” instead of “Durkon.” :grimacing:

Durkon fixed the statue, so he’s still part of the plan!

You’re very kind.

Why is Minrah calling her idea “bad?”

Because it involved deliberately petrifying an ally, which she’s too nice to do.

What, is she bucking for an upgrade to paladin status?

Nice does not mean Lawful Good, and Lawful Good does not mean Nice. See: Miko.

Damn, that was a long time ago.

In addition to turning an ally to stone, I assumed it was “bad” just because it was convoluted and involved multiple spells from different casters.

1310 - Like a Rose

If Belkar were the only survivor, it’s not like it’d be hard for a high-level adventurer to arrange someone else to cast Break Enchantment, anyway. The next tavern he went to would be sure to include five similarly-leveled folks looking to recruit one more. And there’s no way that Belkar would go more than the couple of weeks the spell would cast before entering a tavern.

Yeah, I realize it’s in service of the end joke but the chance of everyone else dying, Belkar living and the world NOT ending yet Belkar can’t find a mid-level spell caster afterwards seems like a pretty edge case to complain about, especially considering the current alternative.

…and what if by the time Belkar found an Enchantment Breaker, the Shrink Item spell wore off?

(That can factor into Belkar’s reluctance. He doesn’t know he’ll be dead within six weeks.)

((How is Bloodfeast going to react when Belkar buys the farm, I wonder?))

(((BTW, is anyone keeping track of how much sand is left in Belkar’s lifetimer? That is, how long did it take the team to get to here since Roy’s resurrection?)))

Forget Bloodfeast. How will Mr. Scruffy react?

V says the Shrink lasts for weeks. The Order already knows that this will be wrapped up one way or the other in days at most.
