In the link I provided, V does good for the sake of doing good. He doesn’t care if he alienates Belkar, but he does care if he upsets Elan. There are lots more examples. I don’t buy buy V being purely neutral.

Even Hitler loved his dogs - by which I mean, even a CE maniac can have friends he cares about. That’s what makes the built-in absolutism of alignment systems silly. Thank Eru Rolemaster didn’t use alignment.

BTW, I read the exchange with the fiends as being they get V’s soul for however long after he dies.

Does anyone else think he’s going to hold on to one splice longer than the others? I bet it’s the sorcerer-archmage. I think he has the best irritant potential for V.

In the context of the conversation, maybe, but these are fiends we’re talking about. You’ll note that they never specified that they get V’s soul after she dies, and assuming that they’re following the rules of discourse is not a good plan.

Actually, you can go back farther to Roy’s afterlife interview. Belkar’s canonically Chaotic Evil, about half a kilonazi judging from the graph.

(there’s a wonderful book I’m trying to find called Villains By Necessity where the world has finally been taken by good and evil is almost nonexistent, a druid senses the balance of the universe deteriorating which is necessarily going to cause the end of the world so he rounds up a gang of vagabonds to wreak havoc and cause general mayhem in order to save the world).

Killing his family accidentally would cause V some serious despair, but it wouldn’t lead to damnation in quite the same way that killing them on purpose would. So, no, it won’t be an accident: V will kill her family on purpose.
