As for the elf… you marry her.
What? It could happen! That’s why it got cut off, it told V’s sex!

Not to mention X is a sorcerer (or… was) so Cha was his main stat, he could actually probably make a pretty convincing argument for the group not appreciating V enough (well, convincing to V).
I just read Start of Darkness (and Origin of PCs), I have to say SoD was the most depressing thing I’ve ever read in my life, but Xykon is almost on par with the Fiends as far as evil manipulation goes. It also makes Redcloak’s “This is for you, mom.” line one of the saddest things ever. I do think that sooner or later we may get a Redcloak arc that ends in him either finishing Xykon and becoming Big Bad or some really convoluted redemption thing (there are still other threats out there). Hell, it wouldn’t be the greatest stretch in the world to have him as a tentative ally depending on how an arc like that would work out (just so long as they don’t go within 20 miles of the Azure City fleet).
Just a thought. Suppose they resurrect Roy in the next couple of strips. And then Elan gets hit by lightning.
Wouldn’t that qualify as a fulfillment of the Oracle’s prophecy? He said the story would have a happy ending for Elan. We’ve all just assumed that the Oracle was implying Elan would be present at the end of the main story and would be happy with the outcome but Elan’s personal story could be distinct from the overall story. Elan’s back with Haley, the Order is reunited, Roy’s back from the dead - Haley and the others would be upset if Elan were to die now, but he’d die happy.
Since when was death the ending of one’s story in D&D?
It’s been shown that being resurrected requires an act of will on the part of the deceased - they have to want to come back to life. Elan, who generally lives for the moment, is exactly the kind of person who would settle right in to the afterlife and not look back. He’s not the sort that worries about unfinished business.
New strip up: #651
I think Mr. Stiffly, I mean O-Chul has officially graduated to my favorite character. He only works in small doses though. He definitely would not be nowhere near as cool if he was a PC. But when he’s on, he is pure gold.
sigh
Gotta admit. He’s just about got the MitD moving from bit player to significant NPC.
Hey, it just occurred to me that Redcloak, of all people, should be desperately happy (even if he doesn’t know it) that V can no longer cast Familicide.
Sweet! I can’t wait to see what the ultimate ramifications are from O-Chul’s influence on the MitD through his respect and wisdom.
Jonathan Chance, who does Redcloak have left, besides a niece hidden away somewhere?
Lets see… comes from a jungle (but not neccessarily born there), father is much bigger and eats a lot… anyone? Something from Mesoamerican myth, maybe?
I lack imagination. I was thinking some sort of tropical Bigfoot, maybe. Malibu Yeti, if you will.
Man, the monster in the shadows plays worse go than I do and that’s saying something.
FWIW I’ve checked the 1e random encounter tables for jungles and there’s nothing remotely like him there. I’m still betting on giant firebreathing space hamster (yes, choie, that one’s real).
So, anybody got an idea how a battle between V and monster in the shadows would play out? The thing’s been portrayed as pretty ridiculously powerful…
He might, if he thought that Haley or Roy needed him.
God, I miss Spelljammer…
Nah, remember, it wipes out anyone even VAGUELY related. So we’re talking distant cousins, uncles, aunts, unknown siblings and their descendants.
Hell, Black Dragons don’t breed much and V estimated he’d wiped out 25% of the entire species. What could happen to a species that has to breed like rabbits to hang around?
Xykon’s head from behind looks… wrong. I know what Rich was going for, but there should be some neck in between all those teeth.
Also, I predict that Random Hobgoblin Gambler next to Redcloak is toast.
Potentially more deaths but less of a population reduction. Presumably there’d be a lot more distinct family lines.
Glad to see I’m not the only one bothered by that.
Also, the Big Bads are in the same room as MitD and O-Chul? I can’t see Xykon letting the two of them play Go without kicking the stones halfway through every game. Nor can I see Redcloak letting the two of them converse freely – he knows just how pliable of mind MitD is, and I don’t think he’d let O-Chul have all that free time to try and wear MitD down.
Those niggling bits aside, damn I can’t wait for the next update!
V would shoot lightning at the monster. The monster would say “ha ha ha it tickles” but not do anything in response, because he doesn’t realise he’s being attacked.
