Ordinary songs that no one notices are actually creepy

Yes, he’s said the song is about suicide. The lyrics about today being the greatest day are either sarcastic or literal, meaning he doesn’t want to see his life return to normal. The part at the end has something to do with suicide by electrocution.

99 Red Baloons. Cheerful Europop ditty about nuclear war.
‘Let’s Face the Muic and Dance’: the ‘troubles’ he’s talking about are the likelihood of going to hell after death.

‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.’ Another ‘we’re going to die soon folks’ song. But very beautiful.

It’s not so much the songs themselves, but I can’t listen to The Beatles - White Album without thinking about Charles Manson and his Family tripping on acid and playing it over and over and over…
“I can hear your footsteps coming up the drive…”

Luca , by Suzanne Vega. A song about child abuse set to a catchy tune.

Creepy?

Stalker creepy?

Say hello to Old Blue Eyes:

Somebody better watch their backs.

Thank you! I knew it couldn’t just be me who thought that. The song’s called “Invisible”, BTW.

On the subject of stalker songs, Barenaked Ladies’ “Straw Hat & Old Dirty Hank” appears to be about a farmer who believes a famous singer is in love with him from the “love” and “O & X” on an autographed photo. He ends up stalking and killing her.

Bruce Springsteen’s “Secret Garden”. The whole song is about a woman who holds back a part of herself from a guy who loves her. I have absolutely no idea why this song is considered romantic. It’s just sad. I know it’s connection to “Jerry Maguire” but still…

And then there’s “The Ocean” by Led Zeppelin

I’m savin all my love for the girl who won my heart
She’s only 3 years old and that’s a real fine way to start.

Although, in this case, I think it’s really a play on the usual premise of a really young girl (i.e. 16-17), or perhaps an actual declaration of love for a daughter. But still weird enough to make me think.

This is more of a contextual creppy, but I have seen Sting’s “When We Dance” featured as a song played at weddings on DJ lists. Sure it’s appropriate… if it’s from the bride’s still-pining ex.

Hurt So Good is my theme song! I also really like Crash into Me which was mentioned earlier.

Now for creepy stalkerish, Clannad’s I Will Find You

"No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a long long time
No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a thousand years "

Another creepy one, but I love it anyway, is Don’t Fear the Reaper.

Oops, i mean it’s something like

“Now I’m singin’ all my songs to the girl who won my heart…”

which makes it slightly less creepy, but still mentionable.

Thanks to Eddie Vedder’s unique singing style, I never knew what “Jeremy” was actually about.

Remembered another one: the melodic ‘You’re Gorgeous’ by Baby Bird. You might dedicate it to the one you love, unless you knew what it was really about.

“Found Out About You” by the Gin Blossoms is another creepy little stalker song:

“Street lights blink on through the car window
I get the time to often on AM Radio
Well you know it’s all I think about
I write your name drive past your house
Your boyfriend’s over I watch your lights go out”

Reminds me of when I began dating my now-husband and my ex-boyfriend would drive by my house at night and then call the next day to say I was up late the night before. shivers

The look? I always thought he said, “Except blood … blood … oh, you know where!” I always read this as, inexperienced girl about to have first sexual encounter with older, experienced boyfriend before she’s actually ready, and all she remembers is the pain and blood.
On another note, I second “Crash Into Me”. WTF? Why do people think this is some sort of sweet ballad?

Same with “Your Body is a Wonderland.” Girls go all gaga over this, like the John Mayer’s being some romantic smoothie. He just wants to bang you, you twit!

I can’t believe no one has yet mentioned the original great stalker song…

I Will Follow Him by Little Peggy March

What if he doesn’t WANT you to follow him, Peggy?
I think that the Crowded House song Into Temptation is about date rape, from the rapist’s point of view.

Brrrrrrr.

The Beach Boys’ Don’t Worry Baby](http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Don’t-Worry-Baby-lyrics-Beach-Boys/A02673A8876A43904825698200275318) always seemed schizophrenic to me, with verses about the building anxiety over an upcoming car race alternating with declarations of love. I think it’s a prequel to one of those car-crash lost-love songs mentioned earlier.

That line is about Plant’s daughter - he even changed the lyrics after her birthday to “She’s only 4 years old…” when singing it live.

The artist is Fastball. It’s on All The Pain Money Can Buy (Their second album). I can’t find a single bit of information on Gigi D’agostino in English.

Also, I believe the (elderly) couple was found before the song was ever released. The lyrics and video certainly suggest they had gone off to die.

For all of you who thought of Possum Kingdom by The Toadies (R.I.P.)…
That wasn’t their only song that sounds like a love song but is actually about a killer check it out:

TYLER
