Meh. A third of a world away, the latitudes are virtually the same. 
Ohio is in the Midwest. (No, I don’t get why either.) Georgia is in the Southeast. But Atlanta and Cincinnati are practically on the same meridian. And then there’s whole other states in the SE further west plus a bit of Florida. So you can actually drive NE from the SE and get to the Midwest.
It’s even harder for people to wrap their heads around the fact that Detroit is actually east of Atlanta.
And north of Canada.
