Oregon people, I need some ideas for...

Getting my gramma out here. Currently she’s living in Texas with my aunt but she desperately wants to move out here to Oregon. Why? She won’t say it outright but it’s because all her favorite great grandkids are out here.

The problem is her health insurance. In Texas she has fantastic coverage. She basically only has to put out $20 a month for her medications and everything is completely covered. But here in Oregon well…from what I’ve been able to see, she’s SOL for health insurance. OHP, the state medical insurance, is only open to children and pregnant women. But even if it were open to her, according to their website she makes too much to qualify. She makes $900 a month. Yeah cause people making $900 a month can afford insurance on their own.

Housing isn’t TOO much of an issue because my parents would be willing to help pay for a place for her. They’d have to because there’s no place around here she can rent for the same $400 a month she’s paying in Texas. So the big problem is health care.

Anyone have any ideas on how we can get her out here and still have the health insurance she really needs? I’m frustrated because I can’t find anything myself and still annoyed that the state thinks she’s not ‘poor’ enough.

No one? :frowning:
