Oregon Trail II kicks ass!

See above.
I love it. It’s so much fun, hunting for food, and traveling.
And the best part is, when my people die, or my wagon overturns, I just start over from where I last saved.

I remember (and here I go dating myself)playing the original Oregon Trail on the Apple PC at school.

Is there a place to play on-line for either of these, or a place to download either of them, preferably for free? I feel like a nostalgia kick, and I can’t find my Coleco-Vision anymore.

The girl on the cover of OT2 looks EXACTLY like my sister! Maybe I should post that in Very Vaguely Creepy…

Yes, you should.

Also, I too remember the first one. I played it in third or fourth grade. It’s so old, though, thinking of it now. Then i got Oregon Trail II a few years later, for my Mac. I remember hunting for food. Isn’t there a new NEW Oregon Trail that came out a few years ago?

I’m not too into Oregon Trail now- i’m not a computer game person, really. But i like the Sims. Sooner or later, im gonna have to make a thread dedicated to them.

So did I! That was so much fun. Whoever was playing would always name the other party members after their friends or the teacher and would loudly announce whenever anyone got sick or died. And didn’t those primitive graphics seem cool at the time? I remember when you went hunting you controlled a little bulky white pixellated stickman while bulky white pixillated animals ran around the screen.

Ironically enough, Drain Bead purchased the original Oregon Trail CD when she was here and we rummaged around the cheap bin of the local Office Max.

Never played it before, but I had fun with her and it. Would get the second volume if I found it…

Yer pal,
Satan

Extra time with Drain Bead: 3 weeks, 5 days, 6 hours, 10 minutes.

I slept with a moderator!*

Yeah, I think there’s a really advanced one out there now.
It’s fun! I mean, yeah, it’s childish and silly, but you get to write in a diary, and purchase food, and none of my other games work. And the ones that do aren’t my kinds of games. (I want to the Sims sooooo bad).
The graphics are better now…a lot better. REAL people in them.
Only now you can’t make tombstones…:frowning:

Hm maybe I SHOULD get it.

The Sims is great it too kicks ass, in my opinion. You should get it, Guin!

The best thing about OT1 was that it showed the cute little animated oxen, and their legs moved according to the pace you set (the highest pace setting made 'em swish back ‘n’ forth really fast). The best thing about OT2 was my sis on the box :). There was also a bug such that, while hunting, you’d occasionally see a moose plodding along in the sky, high above the mountains in the background. Very surreal…

Unfortunateley, the CD got so scratched up it doesn’t work anymore :frowning:

::tries it, just in case::

Oh joy! It works! A miracle! I’ll see if I can get a screenshot of the girl that looks like my sis (I’ve seen her in the game once…)

I’ll get it as soon as I get my computer upgraded.
