Origin of "slapstick" column

linqage

Not much to say but very well done. If I didn’t fear lightning I’d say TGM Himself couldn’t have done it better.

You made me blush!
(quietly taking back all the bad things I’ve said about Mathochist the past month)

Aw heck, I’ll make it the whole YEAR!

Wait, you’ve been saying bad things about me? Sounds like I’ve gotta get me a slapstick and head over to dropzone’s place.

dropzone,

Just an FYI, but you can also buy a “Slap Stick” from Abbott’s Magic Company in Colon, MI.

Thanks!

To answer the implied question, the origin of the “slapstick” column was that it was written by dropzone. Good job; are you planning on doing any more?

With kind invitations like that, how could I refuse?

My good lady instructs me to remark that La Escuelita VIP seems to descend in a right line from Fun in Hi-Skule, the embryonic act of the Marx Brothers. Google same for much detail.

Outstanding job, dropzone. I was wondering how much La Escuelita VIP you needed to watch as part of your research?

All of it, weekly. It’s a dirty job, etc.

(Truth be told, Mike, I had to check around to see if it was still on. I had antenna problems so I couldn’t tune in its station and, being an A/V professional, I didn’t bother fixing it for a couple years. Okay, since truth is “in” this week, I still haven’t fixed the antenna. I just put an antenna amp inline so I can get Channel 23 well enough to watch “Twilight Zone.” Canal 66 is still pretty iffy.)

John, that is very interesting and supports my belief that some parts of popular culture probably go back to Neanderthals. Thank your wife for me.
