origin of your handle

boyfriend once told me that I look dodgy on first impression.

and I bet you all know the song at the end of trainspotting - born slippy…

tarataaaa! born dodgy.

the dodgy one

Okay, mine’s really boring - it’s my nickname IRL. However, there are many different ways to spell it and no two people I know spell it the same way.

Kayby
Kayeby
Kayebee
Kayebe
Kaye-B

Oh what’s the use? I tried, but it’s still boring. :frowning:

Sue Duhnym: I had figured after about one week of ignorance!!
And that made me a fan of yours!!!

As for my name…its just a funny sound…no zoom , no pity, no other story involved…
And now that I am an active visitor of the boards, I am looking for a way to change it to

Watermelon Man

one of my all time favorite jazz tunes.

If you haven’t read Roger Zelazny’s Amber series or played the DRPG based on same, you’d have no idea what I was talking about.

A friend introduced me at another board with the words “I’d like you to meet a very good friend of mine, soda.” My friend’s handle? Whiskey.

Vladislav Tretiak was one of the all time great hockey goalies, so I used this handle while on a hockey message board somewhere and I guess about the same time I signed up here.

Later I learned Tretiak was the name of the bad guy in the Val Kilmer movie The Saint.

Thanks

Thought that you guys would get an exclusive insight to whats goin on up there, from my posts.

My comes from my hobby of tuba playing obviously. It should be tubagoddess. I think I will email Tuba Diva to have it changed. I got it when I first logged onto hotmail in 1996, it was the first thing that came to mind. It stuck. There aren’t many tubagirls out there

Albert is my last name. My grandfather (Tom) grew fine, fine roses – so fine, in fact, that he earned a good reputation in his community (Macon, GA). The best rose is an Albert Rose!

I left out the space between the words for some reason.

Well, it’s because all my friends at home (not the ones at college) call me bouv. It’s my nickname, and as such I adopted it as my handle. However, some people tend to have a goal in life to make me angry, and steal my name before I can register it at a particular site, so I have to add 32 to the end, because 32 is my favourite number. Then there is my AIM name, which is completly different because someone also had bouv32! The nerve!

(but if I’m playing an online game, my handle is UberWang.)

Nimue’s a character in one my favourite books. I didn’t particularly identify with the character, but I really liked her name. I was never any good at thinking up imaginative handles so I decided to stick with it.

My favorite band of all time is The Who. It’s a Who song. A really good Who song. Not the best Who song, but my name’s Sarah and Sally is a nickname for Sarah, I’ve been told.

I’m named after a sword from a D&D campaign my brother wrote. Bonus points for anyone who can translate it.

You’re supposed to ‘make up’ a name? Wouldn’t thsat upset your mothers? She worked and she slaved, and these are the thanks she gets?

Due to certain stresses placed on my face in sports and other activities, I had to undergo a small (major) reconstructive mandibular surgery. My jaw is now reinforced with plates and screws fashioned from titanium. But titaniumjaw just didn’t have the same flow to it.

Because I have one and wear it when the opportunity comes around. Formal events, Scottish festivals, special occasions, etc.

Drank some bad hootch.
Started an ill-thoughtout"Name The Moderator!" contest.
The rest is history!

BTW, I thought about using my SCA name, but “John Smith” didn’t seem impresive enough.

Czar, I’m still upset that you changed your name…

Now when I make fun of you, the two-syllable moniker throws the rhythm off!
