Not true. Tiger was released after I bought this Mac, but before it was shipped to me, and Apple says I have to pay full price for the update from Panther to Tiger. Grrr.
I’ve been using Safari since I got this Mac, and I like it quite a bit. It’s missing some very nice features that I got used to in Firefox, though. The big one is that in Firefox, I can turn on pop-up blocking, but set specific sites where pop-ups are allowed. I can’t find a way to do that in Safari. It’s all or nothing.
Assuming you meant Jag or Panther, I guess the free upgrade is only for Tiger.
As for the browsers, I’ve been trying Firefox out, but even set up how I would like it, it just doesn’t fit right. Nothing huge… in fact, it’s just a couple of tiny things.
I definitely meant Tiger. There was an announcement that any Macs bought after a particular day earlier this month would get a free upgrade. I had paid for my Mac, but they hadn’t shipped it yet. I called, and they said it didn’t count.
Take your receipt to an Apple store (if you live near one) and explain it to an associate in person. Those folks are pretty understanding and they might well help you out.
