Oscars suck

Just my opinion, but when I see all those massively over-paid actors and actresses at the Academy Awards it makes me sick. If I was one of them I wouldnt give a flying fuck if I got an Oscar or not cos I’d be far too busy rolling about in all that money.

All those pathetic speeches and outfits and all the other bullshit that goes with it I really couldnt care less about.

There has been much written today about various problems with last night’s awards, such as “In The Bedroom” being shut out, “Lord of the Rings” only winning a few technical awards, having to look at Whoopi Goldberg for four and a half hours, etc.

But most of the pundits are missing the real problem with the awards, which is that THEY ARE GIVEN OUT TO FREAKING MOVIE PEOPLE! It’s like God himself came down and said, “You know what the problem is with movie people? Their egos just aren’t big enough. How can we create a gigantic televised cluster jerk that will ensure that these clowns make even more outrageous demands and drag around even larger entourages of sycophants and losers? Because if there is one thing I can’t stand, it’s a humble Hollywood star.”

If there was justice in the world, this is the type of awards show we’d be watching:

You get the idea. Of course, such a show would probably have an audience roughly the size of the engineering faculty at Caltech, but I can dream, can’t I?

I would except am Oscar… not that I would be into all the poop that goes with it, but I would love to get recognition for my movie.

Well, don’t expect them to end anytime soon. I read an interesting article a few months ago about the ridiculous number of entertainment award shows out there now. The networks love them because they are a total moneymaker. People watch them because of all the celebrities in attendance. The beauty is that you don’t have to pay the celebrities! They show up for free just for the chance to win a hunk of metal or crystal.

What really pisses me off is that they get treated like they matter.

Newsanchor: “A nuclear explosion goes off in Alaska. Thousands dead. World War Three has begun. But first, lets have Jane Smith do a segment on what some idiot is wearing to the Oscars.”

The Oscars are NOT REAL NEWS. Stop treating them like they are.
