On another board, someone has made the claim that several other WTC buildings “mysteriously” collapsed. There’s apparently alot of conspiracy theories about WTC building 7 in particular.
This person has found alot of conspiracy sites, but no information debunking the conspiracy.
I went looking around and couldn’t find anything either.
Any help from any dopers?

Gerald Posner has said that the reason Building 7 collapsed is that there was a bunker of fuel beneath it, kept for – ironically – civil defense reasons. It caught fire, which caused the collapse. No conspiracy.
Of course, no conspiracy buff is going to believe anything coming from Posner. 
Last night on the msbnc Oberman(?) Countdown show, there was a short piece on this.
The previous night(which I didn’t see) some expert was on and last night Oberman read an email response for a question he had forgotten to ask during the earlier show…
The story was, #7 I believe, there was a large amount of fuel of some kind beneath the building for emergency power. The effects of the 911 attack set it afire and that’s what caused the collapse. Otherwise, according the guy, it would not have.
There were some specific details in the report as to fuel, amount etc, but I don’t want to get the figures wrong and won’t post details from my foggy memory.
What I recall about 7WTC during the immediate aftermath of the attacks is that there were repeated alternating accounts about whether it had fallen or was still standing.
One wag commented that the building seemed to be doing push-ups.
After the 1993 WTC bombing, the City set up a “secret” command center for such attacks at 7 WTC. The oil was there to supply power, heat, etc.
BTW, the new 7 WTC is rising outside my window as we speak!
according to wtc building performance study by fema, on page 8-7 it states:
“the specifics of the fires in wtc 7 and how they caused the buildings to collapse remain unknown at this time. although the total diesel fuel on the premises contained massive potential energy, the best hypothesis has only a low probability of occurrence. further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue.”
it does say: " loss of structural integrity was likely a result of weakening caused by fires on the 5th and 7th floors."
i can tell you from seeing the results of a fire (meridian fire, philly), a regular average office fire, no diesel fuels, struct. members can be twisted and warped to unbelievable degrees. in wtc 7 the weight of upper floors and damage from 2 office towers collapsing around it no doubt helped weaken the building.
