Ouija Boards - I used to think it was bull until......

I need your help, Please do not just say, they are fake etc, without providing fact as what has happended cannot be explained or can it?

As a group of friends we were using a ouija board or talking board (I understand ouija is just a trademark) We are all in our 30s so not teenage kids messing around. Anyway, we got the glass moving and answering any question we asked (I know idoemeter effect, Ive already researched it) However then we did something that no-one has yet be able to explain.

One person left the table and wrote or drew 5 or 6 things on a piece of paper in another room of the house. We then asked the board. What is the first word or picture and so on so forth. The board got every single one correct. We repeated this 4 or 5 times (roughly 25 pictures or words 100% correct)

There was no verbal or signed communication between the person with the paper and those on the board, in fact they couldnt see each other. The strange thing was when we said whats on the paper, the glass went still for a few seconds, as if it was was there was actually going to have a look?

Secondly and just as bizarre, knowing Penn and Tellers comments regarding ideometer effect have just been debunked with the above experience, we all then closed our eyes and yes the board stopped. But then we asked the board why and it amazingly said it couldnt see thats why! We then went around the table one by one with one person open eyes and the rest shut. Same thing happend until it got to a particular friend. Whilst their eyes were open and the others were shut, we could still get clear answers. We could even get answers to questions from people with their eyes closed that only they would know

We are not wierdos or stupid, please dont just reply with their evil or they dont work or your lying etc… This is 100% genuine 100% fact, we just want answers if anyone knows them?
???

For the first: Someone knew in advance what was going to be drawn.
For the second mystery: The one friend who was able to make the board work was the one doing the moving.

My guess: The idea for playing with the board originally came from that person or the one who did the drawing, or they skillfully managed to suggest the idea without it seeming to come from them. They had the whole thing planned in advance as a joke.

This is the point, we are all friends, we didnt rig it in any way, it isnt that simple, we all took turns in drawing the pictures and writing the words. and with the eyes closed thing, as before we are all friends, but there is no way that one person would know the ansers to things the others were asking.

it was also in my house, so I know not rigged.

HELP!!!

Isn’t there an Asimov story like this?

It turns out you are lying.

It’s perfectly reasonable to assume it was a trick planned in advance.

There is ample evidence to show that eye-witnesses don’t remember things precisely (like who suggested the idea or who actually did the drawings or whether somebody cheated).

The reason for the scepticism is that ouija boards have been tested in the past and failed every time.
If you really think you are onto something, then I suggest you bring in some outside observers who set up rigorous testing conditions.

I agree, one or more of your friends are tricking you.

Try this next time. You go out and draw something yourself, see if the board knows what you’ve drawn. If any of your friends seem to quietly be trying to find out what you are going to draw, suggest it is something other than what you actually draw.

or

Ask someone who is not even going to be there, and is a stranger to your friends to make 25 drawings, and sealed inside of cheap envelopes.

I am sure that someone on the SD would be happy to provide 25 drawings or even clip art from random magazines and newspapers] if asked. Heck, if you really want, I have a box of cheap christmas cards that the local school was selling as a fund raiser, and if you dont mind the clip art being pasted inside the christmas cards [so you can just hold the envelope up to the light and see anything] I could do it for you. I dont know you or your friends at all =) PM me if you want to give it a try.

Actually, I have a friend who scrapbooks and she has an assload of stamps on all sorts of subjects, I could go over and make 25 stampings inside the christmas cards, they are all line drawings and would take me a couple hours…

I’ve heard too many weird Ouija stories from too many people to discount this. None of them make me recommend further use of the thing. Most of my neo-Pagan/Wiccan friends avoid them with the same fervency that my fellow Christians do.

[sarcasm]Oh well, friends never play practical jokes on one another. [/sarcasm]
So, you all took turns and drew a picture. There are still lots of ways one or two people in the group could have collaborated or peeked at them unless:
[ul]
[li]You were all able to see each other during the drawing process, but[/li][li]unable to see WHAT everyone else was drawing, and[/li][li]if the drawings were sealed somehow afterwards to prevent tampering.[/li][/ul]

A lot of people avoid stepping on cracks.

The answer is you are getting answers from spirit guides a.k.a. guides of human destiny which is from the Greek word daemon or demon which Jesus spoke of. They are not there to help you, but themselves. If you want you can believe there is some scientific explanation, but none can be proven because it’s not physical, but spiritual. It is your spirit/soul in contact and communication to these spirits.

I don’t think you will get any real answers on this board save everything is a fake.

Now the board is just a tool, like so many other tools, to contact other people in the spirit world. I would say your friend whose eyes had to be open was one of the controllers of the glass. This person would be a spiritual person with some experience with the spirit world. Let me know if I am wrong, just guessing.

I don’t use the board anymore, it is not necessary, but did use it a lot. I think what you experienced was very real. I used to get the same kind of results. The board is not a toy and will not work for everyone. But can be fun.
Don’t take to seriously the comments of skeptics who have never experienced or studied anything spiritual.

Love

Many people are afraid of the board, and it is just as well they are. It is not a toy. If you are afraid of God, Jesus, life, and death. You will be afraid of the board. Don’t use it.

Not to discount or belittle you experience, but, if it were truly that easy to contact the spirit world, we’d probably have standing direct communication channels with our dearly departed (or whatever else entity is being contacted in such a way) by now; in fact, the afterlife would probably be getting broadband right about now (and Verizon HQ would be haunted worse than all old castles in England combined).

It actually is this easy, but as I stated it can never be proven scientifically, going in to try to figure it out is not how it works.

Great. Could you ask my mother a few questions for me, then?

Does it work for long distance too? I wrote down a 6 digit number. I await your reply.

You don’t know your friends as well as you think.

I’ve heard lots of weird stories about the World Trade Center being destroyed by demolition charges, and moon landings being hoaxes, and people having probes jammed up their asses by space aliens. Doesn’t mean there’s anything to them.

Ouija boards are toys. The Ouija board was invented as a toy, is sold as a toy, and every one ever built or that will ever be built is a toy. They move in two ways; by deliberate manipulation or the ideomotor effect. No Ouija board in the history of the toy has ever been moved in any other way. They are not moved by spirits, demons, possession, ESP, or anything else. They’re moved by the people with their hands on the planchette. That’s it, end of story.

  1. Ouji boards do not “work”.

  2. Because you cannot find a natural explanation doesn’t mean that it must work. There are things in life you don’t know that are perfectly natural, for instance, the DNA sequence of a mantis shrimp. This doesn’t make the shrimp magical just because you don’t know this answer.

  3. But in this case the natural explanation is quite easy to find. If you set up proper controls you will see that (1) is true.
