Our "part time" POTUS.

Yup. For the most part Trump is going to treat the Presidency as a tool to achieve the following goals.

  1. Stroking his ego
  2. Building his business and personal wealth

Pretty much everything else will be done by Pence. Thank God. Pence is far more sane than Trump.

Pence may be saner in some sense, but he’s genuinely the extremist that Trump may just be pretending to be, and one also needs to keep in mind that the Cabinet of extremists Trump is appointing aren’t going to be sitting idle, either, even if the man himself is going to be a part-time absentee president.

The New Yorker offers the following thoughts on the extraordinary collection of ideologues and extremists that Trump has been appointing, and they are similar to yours:
My own theory is that Trump is being pragmatic, but not in a policy sense. He’s pragmatically promoting his own interests, which, at this stage, are best served by throwing some large bones to the Republican Party … The one immediate political danger facing Trump is the possibility of a Republican revolt over his refusal to sell off his businesses and resolve the blatant conflicts of interest he’ll have in the Oval Office …

What’s the best way to keep today’s Republican Party in line? By setting before it the prospect of repealing Obamacare, defunding Planned Parenthood, gutting environmental regulations, upending the Paris climate-change agreement, greatly expanding school vouchers and charter schools, crippling the labor movement, further undermining the Voting Rights Act, and, possibly, even privatizing Medicare and Social Security. The deal doesn’t need to be explicit to be clear. The G.O.P. gets its legislative “revolution.” Trump gets to keep his businesses and further enrich himself.

Snopes’ outlook on the matter.

Nope, Trump’s puppeteers are as right-wing as they come. This will be a completely conservative administration, punctuated by the occasional Trump tweet whenever he feels he’s not getting enough attention.

Breaking News: Angela Merkel will co-host the German version of Dancing with the Stars.

I kind of like all this in a way; Trump revealing those seeking leadership for the self-serving, asinine, power-weirdos they mostly are.

I read that entire page, and it was inconclusive WRT whether Trump will actually put in any time working on the program. It did say that he would be paid for his Executive Producer credit on the show and ludicrously compared this with Obama receiving royalties on a book written before he was elected President. BTW, Obama donated all those royalties to charity. I guess Trump will do the same, right? HAHAHAHA! :D:D

Trump won’t be taking daily intelligence briefings because ““You know, I’m, like, a smart person.” (actual quote)

He never wanted the job anyway, he just wanted the title.

My bold.

Occasional? Make that constant. His is need for attention is apparently constant and insatiable.

I think that’s what people in this thread are worrying about, although perhaps not so much from a social conservative standpoint. While I doubt Trump would veto any socially conservative legislation, I don’t think he’ll let his minions push it either: it’s bad for business.

As for the rest of the Cabinet of Deplorables, I and others fear that Trump did not save us from the other extremists lurking in the GOP wings. Most areas of regulation will be gutted as much as the executive branch’s power will allow because that’s what his picks believe in. Ditto for privatization (read: money grab for connected big business) of SS, Medicare, Medicaid, federal education money and maybe parklands.

That’s an interesting question. Normally, I’d say yes since Cruz is a much better candidate and campaigner than Trump. But then so is Hillary. It’s like the rules got thrown out the window this election, so making predictions of alternate starting points is problematic. It would seem that Trump won because he was the anti-candidate, so if someone else wasn’t an anti-candidate, how does he fare? Who knows?

I’m not sure what this made-up outrage is all about. Even the ultra-progressive far-alt-left liberals would have to admit that Donald Trump is the very definition of high-energy. Does anyone remember the last two days before Election day, when Trump jetted through 10 rallies in 5 states, while his feeble-bodied and, let’s be frank, feeble-minded (she did suffer brain trombosis, after all) opponent barely could muster enough energy to hold one? This was, of course, on top of events of Septemeber 11th, when Trump easily went through gruelling 3-hour ceremony, while his opponent collapsed midway and had to be carried off, like a sack of shit.

Donald Trump might literally be the healthiest 70 year old man on the planet, easily in better shape than a lot of men 15 years his junior, like Barack Obama, for example.

Take their respective golf swings, and compare the powerful drive that Donald delivers:

with a pathetically weak and laughable attempts by Barack Obama.

Heck, even Ivanka Trump, wearing high heels, shits all over the junior…

The idea that high energy Donald Trump couldn't devote a few moments of his spare time to run a TV show is laughable.

It is to laugh. I don’t know how much you know about golf, but you’re comparing a driver swing with an iron swing. Not the same thing. Plus, Trump has been playing golf all his life, while Obama’s swing looks like that of a late bloomer.

But it’s nonsense to even use that as some comparison of fitness. Trump is significantly over-weight, so the idea that he’s some pardon of health is, well, laughable.

Golf is a game of leisure. Not a sport.

But if we’re going to compare dads like children do in an elementary school yard, I bet Obama whoops Trump’s fat ass on the basketball court, every fucking day.

OMG, Donald Trump is fat. I suspect he was doing a little bit of cocaine at the end of the campaign. Maybe we should drug test him.

Even looking at the pictures vs Obama one can see that your platitude here is actually evidence of shooting down any credit one can give to statements like that.

There are pictures showing that there was a bit of fibbing from Trump and doctors regarding his height and weight that were done in an effort to avoid being recognized as having an overweight condition.

Well, of course he is fat.
Where do you think he gets the energy to conduct 5 rallies in 10 states in 2 days, while his opponent is unable to climb into a vehicle under her own power?

Washington Post? The same newspaper that’s famous for fake reporting on fake reporting? C’mon, provide at least a semi-respectable source, and then we’ll talk…

And since Chris Christie ate through his lap-band, I suppose he’s the healthiest man alive. lol

Only in Trump la la land is obesity the sign of good health. His puffy eyes on his Cheeto-bloated face tell a different story.

As per your own words in the other thread the WP did correct the blog article, that is indeed what a respectable source will do, the sources that you use typically will not correct their mistakes, turning them IMHO into lies.

In any case you are just shooting the messenger here, care to offer any evidence of photos being tampered by the WP or you just want to admit that you have really noting to offer to defend your silly affirmations about the health of the supreme leader?
