Our summer vacation - A Dutch MMP

Mmmmmmm… cute boys with accents. One can never have too many of those, IMO.

LiLi, I did see the pix of the dress, and lavender really isn’t all that bad… it’s a nice change from your usual black and ummm… black. Celery, on the other hand, is icky and should be outlawed for everything that isn’t a vegetable. Stories like that and The Boy’s pink tie make me grateful that no one has asked me to be in their wedding party (most of my close female friends are either planning on never marrying, or had already married by the time we met… thank Og).

swampus, sending lots of non-flooding thoughts southwards. And remember, absence makes the heart grow something something. *

Glad the doc gave you a clean bill of health, FCM. Muscle relaxants are good stuff, assuming you don’t need to run heavy machinery.

My kittehs is vicious killing machines. They’ll walloped two flies in the space of 20 minutes, and are mighty proud of themselves.

  • Mold, I think? I haven’t really tested that theory out much.

Poor old swampy, only got a single footlong today… :o

**Taters, ** I looked at those recent pics of you in the picture thread and damn but I REALLY like your haircut! I need to get mine cut soon, I think I’m going to take in a printout of those so I can see if the hairdresser can copy it… Of course my hair is nowhere near as thick as yours but a girl can hope, right? Is it a fairly low maintenance cut?

It’s too bad the Horrible Sash isn’t here right now, because Pratchett has been horking repeatedly this afternoon and evening. He was outside for much of it and every hour or so we’d hear his “wowowoWOWOWOWOW…huckhuckhuck… guh-GLARF!!” resounding through the screen door. Then he just HAD to come in for the finale! Cats are nasty.

Heh heh, Horkable Sash…

Awake. Why???

Roberta was on Turner Classic Movies last weekend. Irene Dunne’s version of “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” haunts me. Did anyone else see Roberta?

Love, Phil

And now we’re up! I need to plan my day out, get a couple of e-mails written, then it’s off to work and then I’ll be starting my vacation. Yay!!!

It’s FIRDAY!!!

GT

Didn’t see it. Sorry, phil.

Morning, everyone.

Glad you’re okay, Mooom.

You should be grateful, Muppet. I’ve been a… bridesmatron? three times. The last time I was allowed to wear black. ANd hey, I also wear red and purple. Actually, the amount of black in my wardrobe is diminishing. I need to get more of it.
Friday! Out for drinks tonight, apartment viewing tomorrow, and maybe something fun on Sunday?

Woo hoo, it’s FIRDAY!!!

I’m up, caffeinating, paying bills online …

Thank goodness it was a muscle pull, FCM, although I’m sorry it was so painful. Good to hear that you’d done the right thing too, what a relief!

That’s all I’ve got at this time of day, with this level of caffeine in me. Appropriate hugs, boos, yays all around.

and he hasn’t denied it (yet).

Bluuuurf. Happy Firday, with blessings of snorkels and dive masks for the Jawja and Flarduh Mumpers. Y’all can send some of Fay my way any time now…

I’ma gonna go broke on flahrs and sympathy cards this weekend. Hot on the heels of Uncle Clifford’s demise, there’s another one to deal with.

I had just laid down for my after work nap when there was a rescue page for an elderly woman who was not breathing. Despite the presence of the paid day crew, I answered because surely there was going to be CPR involved, and you need lots of people.

Welllll, I got to the scene, and found out that the old lady had a DNR order, and among her health problems were stage 4 cancer and dementia. The kicker was she was the mother of one of my buddies at the Mayberry VFD. :frowning:

Swampy, the expression on your face in that secret photo is not so much, “Where is my pickinnick basket?” as “Where the hell is my Bloody Mary?”

Mundane task of the day: I have to take the van in for an oil change on the way home today. Yee-ha.

Carry on.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. I survived my mornin’ commute too. If ever there’s been a day where I’m glad I don’t have to go anywhere it’s today. It’s gonna be nasty by mid mornin’! Fay rained on us off and on last night. Right now we’re havin’ wind gusts up to 30-40 MPH. So far no localized flooding has occured but that will change when Fay begins dumpin’ rain a little later on. So, really glad to be in da cave today!

Ok, time to get busy on the work pile. If I’m a good bear I can finish by early this afternoon.

Later Y’all!

VBob - you are getting (((((hugs))))) just because, m’kay?

Swampus, I’m surprised someone didn’t give you a pic-a-nic basket just for sitting there all well-mannered and patient!

Glad to hear the sickies are feeling better today too.

We have a public holiday on Monday and 'im indoors is threatening to go to work instead. That gives me a bonus day at home without him, which is never a bad thing. Of course that also means that by Monday he’ll have changed his mind and ruined my plans.

In other news, I have a couple of friends coming over tomorrow with a large strimmer thing to decimate the back garden. That’ll teach those brambles we mean business! Eventually we’re having the whole lot paved over, not that there’s much of it, and any growing of stuff will be confined to pots. After that, we’ll be off to the Beacon Hotel in Sedgley for a drop of the lovely Sarah Hughes’ Dark Ruby Mild. Well, they will. I won’t 'cos I’m driving. We’re stopping off on the way to feed a friend’s cats so it makes sense for me to drive. Anyway, my liver will thank me for it after the Budapest drinking binge. It was the buckets of cocktails, that’s what did it.

So hugs, yays, boos, appendage-crossing and wet trouts as applicable!

Yay for Firday!

{{{VBob}}} - you can’t get away from hugs here in the MMP.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get a lot of work done today, since half the office is out on their Friday off. This week hasn’t felt very productive.

Laterz…

Yesterday was “beach day”.

Today I have to go to work.

I want yesterday back. :frowning:

Hello. I’m up. Almost time to go to work. Bleh.

I am very disappointed re the job possibility. The opening is still there, but not what I wanted. I will still have to apply for it, though, because money is needed and (to be honest) a change would be good for me. I dread full time, though. :frowning:

It was supposed to rain and it didn’t. Stoopit rain.

Yay for nasty job being done; for it “only” being the trapezius muscle; for all the good in the thread. Boo for the bad stuff. Off to work with Annoying Coworker #1 and #2.

Poor Prof Soapy…{{Soapy}}

You know what they say… life is no day at the beach.

Morning Mumpers! Thank God It’s Firday, for once in my life. I went to see my friend play hockey after work last night. He lost, 11-4. I’m going to watch a little of the unofficial unofficial Canes training camp today. I have the windows open since it’s a nice day, and Nelly just let herself out the front door. It’s a pain to have a smart dog. Thrak killed a toy mouse last night.

{{{{BBBobbio}}}}}

BooFae, I read that as a large stripper. I guess the MMP has warped my fragile little mind. Sarah Hughes’ Dark Ruby Mild even sounds good.

Boo to Fay!(Not Our Fae)!!! She should share a little of that rain up north.

Do people who live on the coast say that?

gt, my brother’s doing well, thanks for asking. He’s found a new place in Evanston and has broken up with his whiny immature brat of a girlfriend.

Cute Irish Co-worker is taking next term off, unfortunately. Another reason to stay until winter term! :stuck_out_tongue:

I am running on two hours of sleep, so I should go to bed now. Thus my Friday endeth. Have a good Friday, the rest of you.

Happy Firday, everyone.

Just 8 hrs to go until my week off. Please please please let today go by quickly. If my manager comes by at 2pm with a last minute request, I’m telling him to shove it.

Unfortunately, it’s also 12 hrs until Mumsy Dearest arrives for a weekend visit. Which means I have 4 hrs to spiff up the house to Mumsy’s standards once I’m done work. Urk.

Wind. Lots of wind. Dark, dark skies. No rain yet though. Except for last night. I went out and let a couple inches of water out of the pool as a precaution. I do not need an overflowin’ pool.

Ok, back to the work pile.

:glares:

Just be home on time so I can get to work this afternoon.

How’s my car, BTW?

Apparently my husband does!
