"Outhouse Springs" billboard campaign

My little town has been inundated with billboards for a bottled liquid product called “Outhouse Springs.” The premise of the ads is that the product is bottled urine. I couldn’t find any images online, but the ads include: the letters “L-M-N-O-” then the bottle; the slogan “The World’s First Recycled Water;” and the slogan “We’re Not Number Two.”

So anyone know what’s up with these? Obviously a joke, but who’s behind them and to what purpose? The website (warning: music and animation) is no help.

My guess … it’s an ad promoting billboards. After a while, the Web site will probably switch to something along the lines of “Caught you looking at our billboard!”

The “caught you looking!” ads are somewhat effective, but in practice outdoor advertising has lowsy retention where they clutter and saturate the built environment, such as El Paso or many cities in the US South…

The “Outhouse Springs” campaign is by Adams Outdoor Advertising, which has a “welcome center” in Madison, WI. I think elmwood is right, as actual bottled urine would be, I think, adulterated by definition.

umm… i found an article about it on google a couple days ago, but now i can’t find it. i’ve already made a thread about it. so, if you search my posts, you might find it.

i think this is the article.
