Outlander: Blood of My Blood (season 1)

This show premieres today and my wife and have been a fan of Outlander since the first season. This is a prequel to the main show and far as we can tell, both of Claire’s parents are time traveling back to the early 1700’s(?).

Anyone else excited or at least interested to watch?

@ivylass You still with us and watching?

I’m excited about but won’t see it because I refuse to pay Starz $10 a month for one series which they will drag out forever. Same for the putative last season of Outlander itself, which we’ve been waiting for for seemingly years. Filming of season 8ended a year ago in September of 2024. They are teasing us that it might be released in early 2026~I’m not holding my breath.

I thought when this season of Blood of my Blood ended, they’d give us the final season of Outlander.

November or so? I’m not in the loop much, though.

Oh, good grief! I didn’t think anyone remembered me! Yep, I’m ready to go!

Oh, yes, I do! From these Outlander discussions!

I got it for my wife. However, I browsed thru Starz lineup and there isnt anything much that would interest me.

My reaction exactly. I looked the other day when I consider re-upping Starz but there isn’t anything I would watch besides Blood of My Blood. I’ll wait for Starz to have an end-of-the-year deal.

I’ve seen the two episodes they dropped the other day.

My wife and I liked it a lot. There is a ton of potential and we are happy to see that Outlander will outlive its current original show.

The actor cast as Brian Fraser(Jamie’s father) is definitely a man who could have been his father. He has a similar look and they, of course, kind of gave him a similar hairstyle. The lady who plays Jamie’s mother looks a lot like Brianna, which also makes sense.

I hope the show does well and has some original ideas.

Uh, how the heck long were Claire’s parents in the past? She doesn’t even seem to, uh, know about this since…..well, this is being made up for the show. I was surprised BOTH her mother and father time traveled back to the 1720s or so. I guess they really couldn’t have been there more than a few months, though…

I was reading a time-waster article about people quitting their jobs. One person said his manager told him to clock out and put in another shift. ‘ivyglass’ said, ‘That’s highly illegal. I’m glad you quit.’ And I thought, ‘Say, I haven’t seen ivyglass in a while.’

Well, I’m retired now, teaching group fitness classes. I got laid off after 20 years, started a new job the following year and worked for 2 1/2 years before I finally said I’m ready to retire.

Claire thought her parents died in a car crash.

Got it. I take it they never come back to 1920’s, then.

Sad!

My wife and I like the show, but it is not quite up to Outlander level. Those first 3 seasons of that show were awesome.

We both agree that if season 1 of Outlander was now, Brian Fraser could have played James Fraser.

And honestly, Julia could have played Claire, but I think Claire is portrayed by an AMAZING actress.

I didn’t like the:

“If we do this, I"ll ruin you.”

“Ruin me!”

Such a cheesy romance novel type of line that I kind of hated. Felt like a back of the romance novel excerpt.

Anyway, it’s pretty solid. Music is great!

I think Ellen means it literally. Malcom won’t want her if she’s “damaged goods.”

They’ve done an excellent job casting the parents. You can see Cat and Sam in the expressions of Hermione and Jamie Roy.

Both shows are very well cast.

Production values are excellent as always.

I’m not sure what is going to happen here after Claire’s parents re-unite, which must happen pretty soon.
