Outlook 2003 questions

I helped a friend re-install her Office 2003 on her new Windows 7 machine.

We now have two issues. First we want to move the emails from the old computer to the new one. Ok, that should be easy, simply copy the .pst file.

The other issue is that she has lost the password for her email account (it is a Gmail). Obviously it is saved in some Outlook configuration file, but how can I retrieve it from there?

If it is impossible to retrieve the password itself, is it at least possible to copy the account profile from the old computer to the new one so she still has access to the email account?

You can retrieve the password through Gmail online.

If you have a router and two net cables I highly, *highly *recommend using the Windows 7 Easy Transfer app. It will transfer everything automatically & practically transparently!

Thanks for the replies.

I retrieved the password from the old computer using this nice little utility: Mail PassView: Password recovery for Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Windows Mail, and more...

Wow! Nice little utility. As the go-to guy for all my friends’ & family’s computer problems that’s definitely going into my bag of tricks!
