Outlook Express Download from Newsgroup Problem

I am trying to download a multiple part post (a movie) from a newsgroup. After a large number of parts it craps out. That is to say it gives me the “illegal operation” box and I have to quite Outlook Express. When I try to return to the newsgroup I get: “Folder could not be displayed. Outlook Express could not open this folder. Possible causes are: Low disk space. Low Memory.” There’s plenty of both. If I go to Windows>Application Data>Identities> 2C433…>Microsoft>Outlook Express and delete a file there that is the name of the newsgroup with “dbx” at the end I can get back to the newsgroup but, of course, all the parts of the movie need to be downloaded again and then it craps out ect. So it seems that the dbx file for a newsgroup has a limited size. Can I increase the capacity so I can get all of the parts?

This movie is in parts, but when I click Combine and Decode it turns the parts into the movie automatically, not allowing me to save the individual pieces for later joining.

Any ideas? Oh, Windows 98SE.

Umm , my shot in the dark

Maybe something to do with the paging system , the way it was explained to me is that its like a cache system for applications.

Once you start the download , the dbx file would show up first as the header ,till the movie was downloaded, so you would probably see that , even if the download was unsuccessful.

At first i was thinking it might be an isp thing , with downloading binarys ,but it seems like its an IE thing.

I would suggest that you download Forte Free agent ,and repeat the process ,and see if its strictly an IE thing.

Waiting to hear more on this from others
