Outlook Express: not working like it used to

For years I’ve succesfully been able to manage my email as follows:

I want all emails to be saved on my main computer at home. I set up Outlook Express mail accounts on my work computer and on my laptop that is networked at home but click the property box that saves the email on the server. That way I can read them but still get them later when I am on the main computer.

Two days ago we got another computer to connect to our home network and I set OE up to do the same thing.

Last night I stopped at work after being away from the main computer for about 3 hours. I checked my email and there were none. When I got home 20 minutes later I checked my email on the new computer and got 8 that had time stamps of much earlier. That’s odd I thought.

This morning I went to my main computer to check my email expecting to get those 6-8 that should still be on the server and anything that came in over night. I got only one message that was new… none of the original 8. I then went to the new computer to see if the properties were correct. They were; plus in doing so I got another 5 emails that were sitting there over night.

Any thoughts?

Sounds to me like the new computer isn’t leaving the messages on the server, you should double/triple check that) Also, it sounds to me like the new computer is automatically checking the email.

To change/check that (if you don’t already know)…
Tools -> Options ->Mail Delivery Tab uncheck Check For New Mail Every ___.

Try that.

If it still isn’t leaving the messages on the server, you might considering deleting that account from OE and putting it back on. For some reason OE tends to just not work from time to time and doing this sometimes fixes it.
