Outlook Express question

When I click a link in emails it opens in the same window that popped the first time I clicked a link…errr, does that make sense?

IOW…I log on, click on a link to the SDMB, start to write a response, get a new email, click on that link, and my response disappears because the new link I clicked on goes there.

I’d rather click on a link and have it open in a new window. It’s possible, isn’t it?

Try holding the shift key down while clicking on a link…it should open a new window.

I asked how to do what you just said in a previous post: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=75802

That is exactly what I wanted to know! Thanks again.

Then, of course, there’s “right click” - “open in new window”

Thanks much…I should’ve known that :stuck_out_tongue:

… This doesn’t work. At least not on the version of Outlook Express I have installed on this machine. (Version 5, or more specifically 5.50.4522.1200. Gee, Microsoft has rebuilt this a few times, I gather? ) Neither the right-click (which I’d tried) or the Shift-click. Any more ideas out there? I’d like to be able to do this too.

Yeah, I’m bumping this, cos now I’m peeved.

The shift+click doesn’t work at all.

The right-click-open-in-new-window worked…for about 10 days, then Express stopped offering that as a an option.

  1. Why would that option suddenly stop existing?
  2. Any more ideas?

Try opening IE, go Tools>Intenet Options>advanced tab. Uncheck ‘Reuse windows for shortcuts.’

I think that will fix it.
