Outlook... hazy today

My outlook email crashed today. I have no idea what happened but when I reloaded all my addy’s are gone. Has anyone had this happen? were you able to get your addresses back?

I’ll send a great dirty joke to the person who can help, providing you give me your addy that is

Would sympathy for your plight rate a dirty joke? If so, mine’s gearhart@netins.net.

That’s never happened to me – I have no idea how/if your address book can be restored. Sorry.

If nothing else, I’ll get this bumped up to the top, for a minute or two at least.

Sue,

Have you tried to import your address book, assuming it exists ?
I think it is named login.wab , and is in \WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft (on my PC). Search for *.wab and try to import it from Outlook. I am using Express at home and Outlook at work so I can’t try just now.

That should be
\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

And it worked OK in Outlook Express, if you can’t find that file you may be SOL :frowning:

That was probably your problem to begin with Sue, your address list burned up with all those dirty jokes.

I’ve learned that if someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that no one will believe it.

Thanks alot guys (minus ultress who is my biggest provider of dirty jokes) I found an old back up disc from eons ago that restored most of my addys and hopefully the rest will just email me soon.

Sue, it must be contagious. Out PC boxes at the office had outlook splat and die today.

Thank you Micro~1!

As a tech support phone help guy for an ISP, all I can say is RUN AWAY from MS Outlook, Outlook Express, and Internet Mail. Those apps cause more problems than all other e-mail programs combined!

And don’t update your Norton Anti-Virus, because it wipes your settings in Outlook Express.

I had something like this. Try scanning for a file called Outlook.pst. If you find it, use the Import function in Outlook to transfer the stuff back. I found this strictly by fooling around, but I recovered everything.
