Outlook on Mac and Mac Contacts-- how to share

I tried googling this, and didn’t get anywhere.

Why does Outlook on my Mac not automatically recognize the contacts I have in my Mac Contacts Application?

And since it doesn’t, how do I import them into Outlook?

I have iOS 10.8.3 and Outlook for Mac 2011.

Drag All Contacts from Address Book to your desktop. It will create a vCard file. Open Outlook and drag the vCard file (All Contacts.vcf) from your desktop into your Outlook address book.
